Just checked the manual gauge. 29.8mm. The TBRG has been slowly getting a dry bias, which means I need to fiddle with its calibration.

Healthy falls clocking up out east which is still under the rainband. Nice way to end a stinker of a month.

Chilly day up here now. Currently 13C with a stiff southerly breeze. Feels like the depths of winter after all that heat and humidity :D

A welcome 14 mm from the band that just passed. Good soaking rain - perfect for the garden.

33ml here mtd 57mm
I couldn't sleep as the back edge of the main rainband just got heavier towards 1am
It looks by all reports that many areas got a really good drink which is fantastic for this time of the year
The outlook looks dry but mild with southerly winds and no heat until mid next week perhaps

First single digit temperatures for the year this morning in many parts of Melbourne, currently 8.4c showing on
my PWS. Will check the screen for the official Min later. Nothing unusual, recorded a min of 7.6c
in February last year but it makes a nice change from those humid plus 20 mins we had recently.
Missed the eclipse last night but the Moon is big bright and beautiful this morning.
Not much weather expercted in the coming week but it should start to warm up later next week
but not to extreme levels, looks like the next change will be around Feb 9 or 10 but not much
rain at this stage I think so a dry start to February - good to get that good rain late in January.
Finished with 64.7mm's in January here - ave is 43mm's.

Not quite snow in Victoria, but nice abrupt end to the system with snow to reasonably low levels is Tasmania. A few photos on Facebook and twitter including this one from the Great Lakes Motel.

Does look that way. A week of almost autumn weather ahead with a big high pushing southerlies over us. Heat returns from Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Looks dry, which is a shame as I like storms :(

BTW we did manage to break a few Temp/Humidity numbers (and got close for plenty of minimum temperature records in northern Victoria and Tasmania). The T/Td of >37C and >19C in Melbourne hasn't happened before in the hourly obs. Given that this event broke records set just a year ago, one might expect the first >37C and >20C can't be too many years away.

Cool here this morning too. Only 7.7c. Felt quite autumnal, but not to be fooled. There’s a lot more summer heat to come!

We finished the month on 91.4mm, which is well above the average of 53mm, thanks to the downpour earlier this week. Looks like quite a lengthy dry period ahead for the start of February. Hopefully we get another couple of decent troughs later in the month.
