Not Melb, but check out the dew points and extreme low RH around Adelaide at the moment. 2% humidity! http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDS60901 ... 4681.shtml

Even more incredible, if the data is correct, is that RH went from 100% to 6% in the half hour from 8.30am to 9am this morning!

One more nasty day tomorrow. Crazy heat inland with low to mid 40s across the board. Models suggesting we could well see the odd spot crack 46 or 47C. Those sort of temperatures should only come in the nasty drought years, not a near normal year :?

Btw quite a cracking heat low for tomorrow consistent with the intense heat. This then loiters to our northeast into next week with NSW baking.

Progs latching on ot a bit more rain for later Saturday through to Monday so hopefully a bit of wet after the heat CMC, GFS and ACCESS all showing falls to about 10mm.

Certainly not official but I just counted 4 PWS's over 46c today in the north west in the last couple of hours (one of them hit 47.7c), Will only get hotter tomorrow with the earth's surface now bubbling. GFS did a very good job picking this up a long way out.

I'm seeing something hotter and nastier than this phase in 10 to 11 days time on EC.... I might have another look at that 48 hours when hopefully it goes away :?

We have been very fortunate wind wise, but always remember the inland is getting hotter and hotter and its only a matter of time before the real northerlies kick in. Feb march could be very hot.

Coolish down here in Walkerville where I’m staying for a few days ATM. That said, the beach house we are renting doesn’t have air conditioning so last night the inside temperature was near 40C :o Can only imagine what life must have been like in the good old days 8-)

Stinking hot again today pretty much everywhere. Perhaps the tops of the alps and bottom of Wilson’s Prom might escape the technical definition of a stinker :o Front is diffuse and vague, and creeps along the coast during the day. ACCESS-R has it coming onto the south central coast after lunch but taking hours to push inland. It doesn’t really make it into the northeast which stays east of a developing easterly trough.

Bit of rain and higher humidity through the weekend, but mainly dribbles.

Another heatwave showing up for the Australia Day weekend, but with heaps more moisture and some instability. Precip waters values could well approach 50mm along with arvo temperatures near 40C. That’s something I’ve never seen before :( Anyone relying on evaporative air conditioning will be in some trouble...

I know its a week away, but Stormcast for next Fri arvo looks insane for parts of Vic.

Avalon sitting around 35c at 9am with multiple PWS's nearby already 36 to 37c. Big 9am numbers by Victorian standards.

Change through Cape Otway and Airlie Inlet. Does seem to be a bit earlier than expected?? Cooler and humid air behind the change.

Would guess it’s only an hour or two away for down here at Walkerville.

Crazy temps west of Melbourne. Madness to see a 41C before 11am at Avalon :?

Change has hit Geelong.

They always seem to estimate the change far too late. In the heat 2 weeks ago they were about 2 hours out as well.

Avalon has lost their lead in the temperature stakes too, 42.5 at Hopetoun!
