Seeing pics bigger than 50cents.
Haha.. Lily, well not laughing at your damage,
But it just slowed down here as I recalled March, what ever year it was..

Anyone got a loop of the radar round one.
Had a child to sort and didn’t get to look at the black line as close as I was hoping..

Wow another great storm! 42mm here in gauge in Monbulk, I thought I mustn’t have emptied it but it was from the last few hours! No hail.

The Mallee monster has taken out town after town's power sub stations. Powercor outage map is a sea of red from the Mallee to Melbourne. This gargantuan cell has smashed a path through Vic.... loads of damage.

Great storm my backyard is half flooded. Will have to wait till tomorrow to get my official
rainfall total but I think its about 25mm's.
Here is a link showing the water in my backyard around my Stevenson Screen.

Jasmine, you ever seen anything like it? I can't recall a storm that's done that. Sure, seen bands stretch from Melbourne ot Mildura, but we basically got the same storm. I can't imagine there being to many storm events like this one.

Camelonic, good to see your total. 38mm here. Ferny Creek is still ticking over as the rain makes it through a blockage. I'm guess a fair bit will have splashed out.

Here's a photo I got of the clearing edge. Best mammatus I've seen in a long time. Classic severe storm signature.

Quick scan of the obs suggest most areas around here scored 15 to 25mm from the main storm. Thing that boosted us was the 9mm at the start from the tiny cell which also got the AWS :D There is a cluster of higher obs running from near Doncaster through Bayswater over us which is where the eastward moving and southward moving bands converged (this track basically runs NW to SE). Strong gradient all over the place with differences of 10mm over just a couple of kms in spots.

Also some 50mm falls clustered around Narre Warren which seems to have top scored.

You can get the loop at http://www.theweatherchaser.com/radar-loop/

14 mm in the gauge here at Bentleigh East, we only got a few sprinkles from the earlier cells, only the last one actually hit us.

@HB, I've never seen one do that. Early in the day on my 2 cents worth sat pic, I mentioned 60 knots @700 hPa, which made me confident of a possible super cell launch from the north. As soon as I saw the upper steering pushing over the top of the surface winds around 5pm, I thought this is going over the range and going over hard. Great pic by the way...

@wolfcat, nice pic.

Power out everywhere around here. Loads of tree damage...I'm sure structure damage as well. The microbursts were something else.

Whiteout in Elwood. Would love to see a pic flatcam.
No worries. Here's a picture from Mount Ridley looking south towards the CBD:

Came out of the city loop this evening to a complete whiteout!! Can't recall experiencing rain like that! Very extreme.

Just come home and there is a fair bit of damage around. Power out too.. Must have been really intense!

Well i think my house got struck, almighty flash and loud snap sound in the house like sparks jumping followed by a static electricty crackling like when you take a jumper off, all whilst an almighty bomb went off...unfortunately my reaction was to get the hell out of there, and that included hitting the stop button - but i managed to record the "snap"

Lovely pics guys. 20mm here inside of an hour. Faith in La Niña restored.

Did anyone notice ABC News used and AWF photo as the back drop to tonight's weather?

Largest hail I have ever seen. 50 cent sized I would say. Gutters blocked. Luckily no damage orher than water pouring into thr house but over 100 calls for SES assistance in Doncaster East and Templestowe.

26mm (in about 15 min) is the thread total for here. I was lucky with the wind gusts, as they were only around 100 km/h. Some weren't so lucky just north of here. Chainsaws will be heard up here for days....
