Manual gauge says just on 20mm here. Obviously something stuck in the auto one which says 18.

That's over 100mm MTD now. And it's only 7 days in.

Record for December is and 134mm in Cranbourne back in 1993.

It's 1.23am and I reckon we've hit 40mm in Ferny Creek now and it's still bucketing down

Garden is still being watered.
Good drop to top up our clay surface.

Great little event for Melbourne. Precip water was only around 20mm when the trough went through. Must have sharpened up beautifully. 66mm in Rowville :o Huge December totals across most of the Metro now.... I'm seeing a lot of gauges have already had the summer average.

I had a couple of drops, zilch recorded for the event.

48mm in the Nylex this morning, certainly unexpected.

Rowville's 66mm I assume is correct, usually will be within a couple of mms either way but 18mm in just 2kms seems a bit high.

50.6mm here. Not often surprised but that one surprised me. Was talking to our local brigade the day before and said we'd get about 20mm, possibly 30mm but that would be tops... and now we could well crack 60mm if the showers lines us up. Still getting coldies here ATM.

MTD is 220mm or there about. We got 225mm in November 2011 so wettest month in 6 years. Be good to go past that one :D

Big rises on local creeks across Melbourne with many peaking higher than last weekend. Check out Garidners Creek at Blackburn.

Looked across our local gauges and definetly some strong gradients. A spot about 2km southeast of us was running about 5mm ahead of us, while another spot about 2km was running about 10mm behind. The cells well quite small embed within the band. A couple actually looked to have a bit of organisation moving left or right a touch. We did well in getting the initial couple of storms. The southern Dandenongs is a magnet for nwly convection, but it more often peaks just south of me, but this time it peak almost over me.

Btw bit of a miss out west. Stunned to see only a mm or two for areas just NW of Melbourne such as Macedon.

Driving to Scoresby this morning, i think that 66mm in Rowville is definitely correct going by the very large puddles (ie flooding) in Tirhatuan Park and i wouldn't be surprised if Heatherton Rd is closed again in the next 24 hours due to flooding.

Tipped out 26mm this morning and the local AWS shows 29mm. A very handy fall.

Enough rain to require sandbagging the back door of a house in Bulleen and the usual leaking roofs to deal with.

Yes, VicRoads site showing Heatherton Rd closed eastbound at the wetlands.

29.1mm's up to 9am this morning, very surprised as I was only expecting about 10mm's.
Takes the MTD to 93.9mm's making it my wettest month since October last year.
YTD is now 731mm's - Ave 772mm's so a chance to exceed the yearly average.

An amazing 'surprise' system; reminds me a bit of the 10 April wrap-around that drenched west central (different synoptics, but similarly unexpected). Always nice to be reminded that the models can massively under estimate rainfall :).

We must be about the driest spot in west central this month (a mere 47mm mtd) but even so we got 8.5mm to 9am when EC was stuck on 2-3mm for the last few days.

Probably a subject for another thread, but what a year for Vic weather extremes 2017 has turned out to be. Exceptionally wet for west central in April, exceptional snowfall/ snow depth in the Alps, exceptionally cold start to November, exceptionally warm finish, exceptionally wet start to December...

3mm more here today from early morning coldies. Funny to report 55mm... on a thread which is so short. Goes to show this one really came out of nowhere as a surprise. Some cracking rumbles, small hail and thick fog on the past day (and a little snow a Baw Baw).

Out MTD is 224mm so have to go back to February 2011 for a wetter month. Very impressed.

Went for a walk today on the Thousdand Steps and after being quite dry all year the valleys full of water. So good to get this for the bush before summer proper starts.
