I really can't figure out why it is amplifying everywhere else whilst crossing the bay, but dying as soon as it hit lands around this area (Frankston towards Cranbourne and then Pakenham)

It is really frustrating

Looks like I narrowly missed a massive downpour in Sunshine, there is puddles everywhere along Ballarat Rd. Just as well I'm getting the car tyres replaced. :P

Had a cracker of a cell pop through Warrandyte around 12.50, enough to make us run for cover. Two loud rolls of thunder.

Colleague in Templestowe had hail settling on the ground.

Plenty of hail here (1-2cm) from that tiny little circular yellow/orange cell directly south west of Viewbank. Hope it hasn't knocked the fruit off our fruit trees :\ Could be more from the larger "cell". Just goes to show it is still quite unstable with that airflow

5mm here today. Picked the edge of plenty of showers with brief hail and thunder, but all the cores missed us. Area around Olinda seems to have copped the best locally with about 10-15mm today. Shame as we are just under 100mm for the month, and still a way of the average with only 12 hours to go.

Cold one here with temps ranging from 3.8 to 10.1C. Event total about 18mm.

Shower still pretty sparse, but some crackers with city currently under one :D Hoping to pick up a stream currently moving up the bay.

2mm more overnight, mostly from a cracking graupel shower. Bucket loads of tiny ice pellets. Month ends on about 100mm, but frustratingly it's our six month below average in a row. That's a pretty ordinary sequence, but wierdly most months have fallen just sort.

Foggy now and 5C with warm air advection kicking in. Should see showers now for a few days in an increasingly moist swly stream. Looks like a secondary low and cold pool will get thrown around the high and impact us on Thursday and Friday with more showers.

1 degree here and quite a heavy frost. I am really surprised with that! We totalled about 5mm from the thread dates here.

5mm + 5mm for us, so scraped a 'pass' (I hoped for at least 10mm). Total for October is 60mm exactly vs average of 72.3mm.

Ytd is 629.5mm vs average of 648.3mm, so only a little off the pace.

9mm fell here in Kilmore town for the event. At 4pm yesterday, saw a cell (one of 2) near the CBD with a weak gust front and what looked like a flanking line coming in from past Sunbury/ Also briefly saw what looked like snow falling from a cloud base on the southerly wind change (part of this line).
All from Tullamarine.

2 degC here this morning. Brrrr.

Event total of 7mm. October rainfall just over 30mm. A bit below average and the Indian Ocean Dipole has certainly been a factor this Spring. YTD we are very close to average. Our extremely wet April helped!

Cool here today with a few showers. Squeezed out another 0.4mm. Looks quite showery next three days.

Drizzly night up here with another 6mm. Makes for about 25mm for this event. The nearby AWS squeezed out 9mm. Next three days looks damp in southern and mountain area, particularly Thursday which looks very showery on the latest batch of progs. Front passing through on Friday may also clip us.

Not much warmth in the outlook with southerlies most days and an upper trough in the north.

Almost time for a new thread for the coming "long weekend".

Pouring in Ferny Creek this morning with thick soaking drizzle and fog. Nearly 5mm in the last two hours and coming down hard. Two more showery days to come so event in the end could be quite impressive. We've now had 3, 9, 7, 6, 7 plus ??mm so could pass 40mm without a single big daily total.

Driving around central area yesterday was taken by how dry many parts are looking which goes to show the lack of big fall the past few months. Six month deciles show a pretty hit miss and some places bad picture with the usual climate gradients amplified (parts of central Vic have only had 100-200mm which the wettest spots have had 800mm+

Lightning came down our phone line on Monday and zapped everything attached to it. Lucky I wasn't on the phone. The crack when it hit the junction box outside my computer room was deafening. It fried our modem, Foxtel boxes and my computer. Finally we are back online.

Dribbles from this system keep coming. Another 3mm this morning, and looks like showers on and off for the rest of the day. Locally, some areas near us have had 50mm from this event, while we've had about 40mm now.

Looks like weather will become much warmer later next week so good to get the rain.

Bloody cold start to the month and end to October here - maximums several degrees below average and burning firewood like it's winter. Looks like new snow on the Baw Baw cams.

A couple of mm here yesterday, bringing us to a grand total of 4mm mtd :) but feels much wetter with nothing drying out.

2mm more here yesterday. Event about 40mm, with our nearby aws 55mm. Makes me wonder if my aws is drifting and needs recalbrating :? As we are usually close. MTD is about 20mm.

Big heat up coming, so I'm not wishing for warmth to be honest. Could easily see a couple of 35s or thereabouts in parts of central Vic in about seven to ten days.
