Why is the front so 'smooth' looking? It appears that way on the satellite and radar - just wondering what causes that.

Looks like it's hit some kind of barrier and just stalled.

9mm overnight so an ok start. Shame this one didn't tap a big plume of moisture from the Indian Ocean as it could have been really big. Not that often you get an almost north-south jet which shows how sharp the cold pool it and how strong the contrast in temperature. Can still feel the cool eastern Indian Ocean (almost positive IOD) on our weather.

Is now down to 4C here with showers inbound. Going to feel like mid winter today :D

Decent snow in the alps overnight.

Here's a recent photo from Buller. Looks like a few cm's at Lake Mt and Baw Baw.

Desperately dry on the Tasmanian East Coast. Since the 21st May St Helen's in the North East has received only 76.8 mm of rain in 5 months.

It's back to winter! 6mm here so far. But it seems to be clearing now. Some decent rain still for South of the divide looking at the radar.

The current airmass is very unstable and I expect storms and heavy showers to just keep popping up for the remainder of the arvo in Central areas south of the divide. As is with these set ups, it is very hit or miss.

Have had a hailshower here and that's about it. Sun is out at the moment which could provide a bit of extra lift for further development.

Well it's got a bit volatile here now. Just had a few mm and a drop in temp to 8 DegC!

Now the sun is out and the roads are boiling off vapour.

Cracking hail and thunderstorm just gone over the middle of the Dandenongs. Our temperature is back down to 6C with nearly 3mm of rain. The area around Olinda looks to have copped the best of it (though no gauges to measure in online). More showers in bounds.
