Yep just about ready to call it - no storms for Melbourne. Change is arriving on the doppler. Needed to be 2 hours later and much less high cloud junk. It's amazing how often this occurs now when we get great humidity, good uppers but no decent trigger or too much cloud.

In writing this, a tiny bit of hope it explodes, always happy to be wrong. 8-)

Some cells developing now to the north of Melbourne and also looks like some minor development around St Kilda area. Still a wait and see situation, change might come through earlier than expected. Models showed mid afternoon with quite significant development.

Well I'm officially calling it for the western boredom zone, no storms!

Another pathetic result. Next system please whenever that may be.

Showers and thunderstorms developing in a line from about Echuca down to Melbourne on and ahead of the trough system. Likely to see a warning issued soon in my opinion. These should track progressively east during this afternoon.

I'm borderline near a shower over SE burbs at the moment. Bit unfortunate the change didn't come through a little later to maximise on heating.

I'm right underneath the St. Kilda to Oakleigh patch on the radar.

Black as the ace of spades but no rain strangely enough, even with patches of yellow showing it's still dry?

Looks like a nice line from Sunbury/Gisborne through to Mount D if you're lucky enough to be in it.

EDIT: Heavy heavy rain now. Fat old rain drops too!

Looks like something tasty near Lilydale on the 64k radar. Pity I am at work.
Edit, heavens just opened here in Dandenong.

Too far south for anything to happen here at this stage.

Not that we're a friendly severe storm area anyway.

Heavy rain in Clayton - hope it gets to Belgrave. No rumbles...yet

Did explode after all - at least the SE burbs - happy to be sort of wrong so far.. :)

Starting to rain here now in Cheltenham although nothing on radar yet. It's quite rapid development.

EDIT: Lasted all of 60 seconds! :|

Finally some rain after it's been skirting to the north and east for the past half hour. A small teaser then the main course started quick!

EDIT: and there's the Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Bit slow off the mark?

Interesting to compare the two radars - the broady one is saying more widespread rain, but Laverton one is heavy rain but tighter in it's spread.

Same usual crap. One spark in the distence, no rumbles, measly few mms of rain. Lawn already brown, soil drying out. Yawn.

Same in FC. 2.6mm for us. AWS to our north got 7mm and AWS to our near east got 6mm, but looks like we picked a hole. Crap event for us. Really disappointing given the potential, but just out of luck  That's the second miss in two weeks for us.

Be watering the garden soon if it doesn't rain with the swly stream next few days :?

Bumper falls out west and in the northeast as the model suggested, and sadly the hole in the middle was bigger and more stark than most models suggested.

Edit> 3mm in the end. Friend 2km south scored and orange core with 12mm in 10 minutes. Second miss in a week. Now hoping for some drizzle Friday, Saturday and Sunday which should double my total :x
