Work (Mount Waverley) is finally in the direct line of something at least, doesn't look like much though, going by the 24hour total I think home might've had 5-10mm max.
512km Radar looking a bit bare once this band passes for the metro

Might be looking a bit bare Horts... but perfect for storm development! Sun has popped out here intermittently and it just feels like perfect conditions for storm development. I hope this cloud and passing showers over the metro area quickly passes so we get some serious solar heating. If the sun manages to stay out for even an hour storms will bubble imo. Cloudless skies over a north-western direction from Maryborough which looks promising.
Fasten your seatbelts Victoria, this arvo is going to be wild.

Fingers crossed Hunter!
Looking at the Himawari-8 the sun is slowly edging its way closer to the Melbourne metro!

A quick 3mm in Elwood over the last 30 minutes. Dust has been settled. Let's hope for some clear sky and heating now to allow storms to develop.

4mm here at work in Sunshine West, and 10mm down at Cowes on the Island. At least I don't have to worry too much about the garden down there.
Now to see whether cloud buggers off & gives us an outside chance of storm development.

0.5mm in FC from that rain band
Bit underwhelming, picking gaps between all the showers and storms.
Now waiting on the secondary development which should fire quickly to our northwest.
The set up for central areas looks excellent for storms, but knowing how well the Melbourne stormshield can work, I'm never entirely confident

The radar is virtually bare to the west of Melbourne now, but is that a bit of promise creeping in on the 256km near Horsham/ Halls Gap, or am I dreamin'?

Very humid in the city now and sunny. Radar should light up soon with lots of chunky clouds going up. Timing on the change which is down near Cape Otway looks promising.

Was just about to post that HB. Yes latest SAT showing convection developing to the west and northwest of Melbourne so expect development very shortly - the radar should start to look good. As mentioned, it is storm activity, so will be relatively hit and miss, but overall very good chances for some activity. Also worth mentioning that storm organisation is particularly possible this afternoon, especially north central and northern country. Flash flooding biggest risk today although damaging winds also possible. Large hail least likely (but still a risk).

Went for a walk while the sun is out
Interesting mix of clear sky, scattered low-level scud, mid-level cloud and high-level cloud. Hopefully something goes BANG in the next few hours.

I'm personally not all that confident of seeing any action, too much cloud junk around for my liking. Would be nice to be proven wrong though.

Looks to be some cells popping up in the outer northern suburbs according to the radar.
