5.5 mm overnight takes us to 18mm for the dates. So far, July is looking better than June (which isn't hard :)).

Another's day with a chance of showers, and again tomorrow. Looks like the usual suspects will get it... Northeast ranges, coastal strip and southwest.

Might get a shower here or not. I've thought a few days looked promising but fizzed. Bit over these chance of a shower sort of days. Would like some proper fronts :x

Looks like showery days will last through much of next week. Quite cool, but nothing that remarkable for the time of year.

Rather foggy North of the Divide this morning. Got down to 1 degC around midnight but now 5 degC. A bit of a pea-souper.

If there's one thing that's characterized winter 2017 thus far for us, it's the lack of wind. I put that down to the persistently +ve AAO.

Foggy start here in Launceston but clearing now for a fine day. I'm off soon to University of Tasmania Stadium for the Hawthorn vs GWS clash

Ended up with a foggy a showery arvo here in the end and chilly. Max of just 7.2C with 2.4mm of rain. Few showers inbound so hoping to add some more by morning.

Unfortunately this system is peaking out west so best fall in SA and Bass Strait.

Another 2mm for Kyneton making it 32mm for the thread. Polar vortex is still cranking down below but no obvious leak north in the short term. EC showing something interesting at 240 hours but even the best models can't be trusted that far out this winter.

Great game down there yesterday Tassie Dave. Weather looked ok as well from what I saw.

3mm overnight, making 5.4mm for the 24 hours. Event up to nearly 20mm now.

Few more showers to come, but the next high ridges in. Bumper falls through Bass Strait :(

Another sunny day after a cold start. Most forecast models are looking rather bullish for quite cold weather in the coming weekend.

The polar vortex is beginning to leak into New Zealand though: https://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/ ... ed-crashes

Wired that the day with the most showers is the one with the high almost on top of us. Been getting heavy showers on and off which have looked thundery.

Almost 4mm so far, with more lining us up.

Looks like proper winter weather for later in the week.

Yes HB, plenty of good showers showing up south of the divide heading west.

Nice spotting SB on the NZ weather. Some of the forecast charts for NZ are going crazy over the next 2 weeks. I'm getting a little excited over here.

The polar vortex is starting to pulsate :) and is ballooning into the ridge on the models over the next 2 weeks for SE OZ. Real winter is arriving :)

Closing in on 6mm here now. Been teeming the last 15 minutes. Doesn't really feel like a winter shower... more like spring thunderies :D whole system is running along its axis so not really spreading around.

Good pick by EC which got this band of locally heavy showers.

8mm in the end, with nearly 10mm at our local aws. Event almost made it to 30mm so a pass :P

Next one only a couple of days away.

Good top up of snow in the alps with 30 to 50cm at higher elevations. Strange though that there is basically nothing below (about)1400m. It's climatologically the coldest week of the year and still basically bare at the lower resorts outside of the snowmaking :?

A big fat ZERO here. Slight sprinkle yesterday which wet the road but didnt register in the gauge.

Oh well.

It seems like last week's frost killed off the grass too. It was nice and green before that and now it's brown in vast areas.

School holiday travels, Port Welshpool, seems to have had decent rains, roads boggy,
and large areas of water laying around, great day with no wind.
Hope this continues today to check out the prom.
