First system starting to show up quite nicely on the sat pic, plenty of speckled cold stuff. Not expecting a lot of rain here, maybe 10mm if I'm lucky with the initial rain band tomorrow morning.

The 2nd front has changed a little on GFS and EC in the last few runs, with freezing levels around 1000 to 1200m now but Access still has it lower around 800m. Might need another couple of runs before we really know how it's going to look.

Friday morning looks like a big frost. About 80% of the state.

Squall line holding strong as it penetrates the Victorian storm shield on the border. Quite a few CG's and anvil crawlers on the lightning tracker near Portland now. Will be interesting to see how it holds up once the sun goes down and the earth cools.

Up to 15c here today. Sure has been windy, and still gusting. A few showers now approaching from the west. I'm not expecting much here with these, but hoping for a few mm overnight. Our MTD is only 7.5mm - quite a dry one, especially for May.

Looking forward to a bit of a temperature drop here tomorrow.
It has been remarkably steady here since last tues, only varying between 7C and a bit over 10C. Cant tell whether its night or day really.

Thunder and lightning confirmed in the inner/east of Melbourne. Radar looks like more to come...

Can someone explain how we are getting lightning in late May, when the temperature isn't that high? Maybe, it's just the lift of the front, the conditions? If somebody could help out with an answer, please...

Another 6mm to add to the thread here, had quite a few distant rumbles. The cells were dying and regenerating on the squall line, making a direct hit pot luck.

Colder air and showers now rushing into the south west.

@Harley34, the squall line was ingesting enough warm air to get the instability IMO. Whilst unusual, storms can occur around winter in the right conditions. Thundersnow is one for my bucket list :)

Just over 12mm in the gauge this morning. Not a bad start. Thinking we may well get another 10mm here today, so May's total will get a bump. Not sure if there was any thunder :?: slept solid last night.

Pretty consistent falls around the state, though fizzing a bit in the far northwest and east.

Looks like snow levels now around 1200m. Should dip further to somewhere around 900m.

Second front for Tuesday looks ok, but not expecting a lot of rain. Maybe 10-20mm here, but most spots more like 5-10mm. Then and big high with frosts to start June.
Thundersnow is one for my bucket
Had it three times here the last decade. Last one was three years ago. We usually get snow here in winter with deep swly flows under coldies so not that surprising that it happens here.

One close clap of thunder here as the heaviest rain arrived around 1.30am.

18mm overnight and some thunder and lightning thrown in. A big underestimate from the models for us - I always like that :).

A short period of very heavy rain woke me up last night.
Temp has nosedived and still falling .
4.5C now and it feels like winter outside.

10mm here, but rain was so intense and sustained, I reckon we got more(some probably bounced off top of gauge). Had some flangs thrown in too!
Re my earlier pessemism about the squall line holding - glad to be proven wrong!
7C here atm.

8.5c here currently, and a total of 6.4mm so far. There were a few flashes of lightning and some distant rumbles just after midnight. Nice to hear some heavier rain on the roof - it has been quite a while!
