Flow gone back to a more southwesterly now, with showers seemingly penetrating into more eastern and south-eastern suburbs now

Yes good spot stevco123, amazing what a difference just a slight change in the flow makes.

...and here comes the drizzle. Absolutely thick heavy drizzle here with warm air advection and the flow off the bay, we can get 30mm overnight in the right set ups, lets see if it lasts.

Couple of mms overnight in drizzle. Will continue today, thickening up later for us and then a sneaky front overnight. Think we are past 75mm now for this event. Could yet make 100mm from this event. Been a while since we've cracked that for a system.

Not a lot going on up here, cloudy and 11c with 0.2mm overnight. Shouldn’t get too much more over the divide for the thread.

Reasonable system early next week which could be followed up by the first frost of the season. Seems like a lot of high pressure by the end of next week. On a side note, currently tropical cyclone Frances off N.T/ W.A and maybe another one in the coral sea coming up in 10 days according to EC/GFS…… very late in the season for TC's to be forming.

Drizzle and fog here overnight. Couple more mms overnight. Event up to 80mm. Classic system which gives showers in the eastern burbs right up to the last isobar :D MTD nearly 140mm now so comfortably above average.

Getting a bit jealous looking at the webcams around Melbourne and the Bay showing blue sky and sunshine while we're shrouded in fog and drizzle up here! :x

It's drizzle here as well this morning. It's light - only 0.1mm in the gauge and 14.5c. MTD rain is now on 110.9mm, so certainly above average for here.

11mm more in drizzle and light rain over the past few days. 66mm in total. Considering how dry and mild it was that's quite the turnaround.

Finally cleared up a bit this afternoon with a glimpse or two of sun. Drizzle and light rain over the last day has netted another 14mm, so event total stands on 80mm so far. 139mm MTD.

A beautiful day in Launceston today fro the Hawks vs Saints contest with the temperature reaching 20.9 degrees at 2.40 pm which exceeded the maximum temperature in Mildura which is very unusual. Only 32 mm of rain has fallen in Launceston so far in April.

Finished the event with 24.5mm and April with 120.5mm - our wettest April by far (beats 2001 by 20.5mm).

Coupled with periods of warmth, local farmers are calling it the best autumn break they can remember. (Although in the end, the cold blasts have dragged the average max and min back to close to average.)

Squeezed out another 0.2mm so event finished on 80.6mm. Best event here since 2013 (we scored 75mm from that ripper storm in late December) but before then have to go all the way back to June 2013 for a bigger event (we got 95mm in that event). Was quite surprised it's been so long since something this big as rainfall has been pretty consistent the last few years but most big events topped out around 50mm.

Month finished on 135mm, which is about 10mm above average for Ferny Creek. April for east central areas is historically one of the wettest months as the bay is still warm, and we can get some decent fronts.

Front through later today should start May's rainfall. Not expecting a lot, maybe 5-10mm locally, but for most mainly a mm or two. Quite a cold system so a bit of snow in the alps.

Nice batch of cold air behind the front on the 9.50am Sat pic.

The next front this weekend is starting to upgrade on the models on the last runs. GFS 18z showing a nice deepening cyclonic cold core low, spinning around Tassie and Bass strait Saturday night. http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis ... 018&fh=138
