Cool rainy night with 8mm. More showers to come, so should add a bit more.

Most spots picked up 2-5mm in the south, with dribbles in the north.

Tempeatures suggest there may have been a few flurries in the alps overnight with Baw Baw dipping to ~0C.

Looks like most places received 3-4mm overnight, with 15mm recorded at Rhyll on the island. :o

Nice little drop of rain overnight.
This probably sounds silly, but any chance ex-tropical Cyclone Debbie could change course and visit Victoria? :P

5.5mm from that lot, brings us to 44mm mtd - maybe a mm or two yet to come but puts us slightly ahead of our March average - March being comfortably our driest month. Tracking about average for ytd too; given the seasonal outlooks I'm happy with that. A true 'autumn break' with everything greening up fast.

Temps today a shock to the system with a little shower falling this morning at just 5.5 C - that would have been snow a few hundred metres above us. Easy to forget what early autumn can (should?) be like after the last few weeks!

3.6mm here so far but not expecting much more. 25mm for the month. Unfortunately north of the divide, it’s been a very dry start to 2017 but nice to be feeling like Autumn today. Hopefully the warm bay , gets a few coldies going this afternoon for the Melbournians :)

Incredible what is currently happening in Queensland. Already estimated to be double the cost of TC Yasi in 2011. I watched a convergence zone from ex TC Debbie over Mackay last night drop around 200mm in a few hours. Look out SE QLD and Northern NSW today as she gets back over warmer water. Several radars in that region are already looking ominous.

@weatherviewer – There is a high pressure ridge pushing ex TC Debbie south east towards the Tasman sea, so Victoria misses on this one.

There is another extraordinary High pressure system coming in after this…… EC is modelling 1035 hPa over Tasmania by next Monday. We are about to go back into an easterly to north easterly pattern next week. We could be talking many consecutive days of mid to high 20’s next week in April. Something is not quite right at the moment.

9.6mmm's overnight here takes the MTD to 69.9mm's (ave 45mm's) so now its a well above average month
for rain here. YTD is 190mm's.
Doesn't look like much more to come though.

First proper cold weather in a long time, 14 at home, that's more like it.

Another 4mm or so overnight.

You only have to read the 1000+ comments that follow that link to see why we don't discuss climate on this forum any more, it always, always descends into unacceptable personal attacks and name calling on every forum and every article I've ever seen. The views of the pro and anti AGW brigades are so completely at odds with each other that no agreement seems possible.
Pouring with rain here with the bay effect in full flow, 7.5mm overnight and another 8mm so far today. :D

Yes, some nice coldies developing off the bay.

interesting read occluded... as Geoff mentions, always a hot and heated topic... no input from me on the topic :) but currently we definitely have an abnormal weather pattern in the southern hemisphere. I referenced the low Hadley cell in March which seems to be continuing.... to see such a broad area of high pressure centred below 40 degrees south around Australia in April is unusual. My nightly foot stomping rain dance can't seem shift the high's north :)

I'm keeping a close eye on Brisbane radar for late this afternoon. Ex TC Debbie is winding up again on the eastern flank as she nears water. Cloud tops -60 to -70c at the moment near Gladstone. Government just closed 800 schools in the attack zone around SE Queensland.

4.5C this morning and ive just gone over 10C a little while ago.
Cant imagine a March without at least a few less than 10C maxs at my place. Looks like im going to get one this year.

Was hoping for a sub-10C max today, but we just popped over that and reached 10.4C.

Lots of heavy showers out east - clocked up another 8mm for this mini-event so up to a health 16mm. That makes 30mm for the week.

Now about 10mm below our monthly average. Shame we'll fall just short looking at the radar.

As for wacky weather.... going to be our hottest March on record in Vic, breaking the record set 12 months ago. Patterns pretty clear  :( :?

Yes, certainly a shock to the system to have more seasonal temperatures for once after such prolonged warmth. Reached 11C here today and frequent showers have given a total of 16mm for the event so far. Might get a bit more this evening looking at the radar.

As we have stated in the past, any comments on Climate will be deleted. There are other forums to make your views known, this forum is purely for weather. We take no joy from deleting anyone's posts, but we want to keep this forum friendly and civilised, and bringing climate into it will not help one bit.
Thank you.

Still getting showers here so edging up. Temperature briefly touched 11.7C here this arvo so cool, but not that remarkable in the end.

Flying back form Canberra this arvo saw a couple of light snow showers evident around Lake Mountain with just the lightest smear of snow on Mount Torbreck.
