Bit of a hairy trip home driving along the Deer Park bypass when that hit. Had strong crosswind with moderate rain thrown in. Of course there were one or two idiots flying past me in the conditions doing at least 110km/h.
Heard one roll of thunder while waiting for the school bell & probably picked up 1-2mm all up.
All over now, onto the next one later in the week.

Absolutely beautiful afternoon here at Mt Macedon. We had 3mm with the storm and the temp has nose dived to 12.5C after a ridiculous top of 25C. Thats very warm for this elevation in late March.
The light here at the moment is sublime. Just beautiful.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m
Work- "Bolobek" at Macedon. 430m
really cant be bothered following the weather anymore, its truly never as its hyped up to be, another failure in terms of storms, just the few distant rumbles and a couple light showers that now seems to constitute a thunderstorm or front.
Infact i bet when what was once "normal" storm next happens, everyone will be on about how it was the 1 in 100 year storm they never saw the likes of before, and its all because of global warming etc.
But theres always signs the models show another big one of the way, until thats a failure and the next and the next...def something not right with the weather in Melbourne this season.
NSW (Wilcannia with 44.0C), SA (Ceduna with 44.5C - Sunday) and Qld (Birdsville with 43.3C) have all set new records for latest in autumn (previous records below) for the three states
Vic has fallen short of a record with 37.8C at Latrobe Valley today (39.6C at Sale on 30 March 1940 is the record to "beat", Melbourne got 37.8 the day before).
Sounds like you need to relocate vertically 400 metres James, we too got 14mm from that front in quick time. Lots of thunder (though not overhead), squalls, fog, 13C drop in temperature, and now clear , calm and sunny, not bad for one day!

He's not the only one Geoff. I would do anything to get out of this hell hole.
Might be time to start planning a trip away to one of my favourite parts of the state Olinda! It's been a while, long overdue.
Things have calmed right down here, back to proper cycling conditions tomorrow.

A decent change today. Just 2.6mm here, but certainly welcome nonetheless. Very windy this morning, and warm. Got to 29.5 ahead of the change. Currently 13.2. Really enjoying the cooler, brisker weather right now. Hopefully a couple more millimetres in Wednesday night and Thursday.
Very violent storm passed through Wodonga shorty after 5 this arvo. My brother's weather station recorded a gust of 120kph! I recorded about 5mm in about 5 minutes but I reckon most of the rain flew past the gauge sideways.
The Emergency Vic site had about 180 incidents recorded after about 5.15. Took a short drive about 7. Looks like a war zone out there. Trees, branches everywhere. 400+ homes without power. Saw local suburban roads closed due to power lines being down.
Check out this pic from the Bordermail website showing damage between Chiltern and Beechworth.
interesting Pics indeed, hard to tell without seeing the whole area and radar review but on a few of those pics it seems to be a tracks of damage with other nearby trees escaping impacts. I'm thinking a EF1 twister associated with a mesocyclone.
