Bit of a grass fire South of Swan Hill this afternoon. They sent the DC-10 and C-130 fire bombers down from Sydney but the fire was under control before they arrived. Radar indicates they turned back just before crossing the Murray River...

This year is like 2003 on repeat - a cold October and by mid-Nov it was high-30s.

You will lie awake until midnight. tossing, turning, waiting for the cool change because you know its going to be noisy anyway when it comes.
So maybe you recharge the batteries, clean the lens. This fan is so noisy, are the windows open or closed? I better check. Toss turn, sheet on sheet off.

NO how did those mozzies get in! was that a flash to the west? Man Im hot, how hot is it, lemme check the radar,
wifey yells "either close the blinds or put some clothes on"...another hot night in Melnourne Town.

That Colac storm looks like a Supercell to me on the satpic. Another one behind it too.

They dont want too much rain there where the fires were, remebmer the 80s big rains after fires, washed everthing down river like a Sunami down the GOR, never seen anything like it before or since and dont want to again.

Colac storm definitely very strong, the outflow on it is damaging! Wouldn't be surprised for large hail either. Mum and dad got the side of that beast and said the wind was insane, they're getting another storm now behind it

Edit: Melbourne temps spiking at the moment, 36 at Laverton for example. Just squeezing in the last of this heat before the cloud rolls in, doesn't look likely Melbourne will reach it's maximum.

Theres a reason why those barren windswept plains in the west were only good for growing Scotch Thistles. Every time they get a storm, these dodgy houses are on the news floocded or roofless hope it doesnt happen tonight.

15C drop across the incoming wind change so has some punch. Also some gusty winds :?

Storms look to be quite high based so most not dropping a lot (best storm so far is that near Colac). Hoping they'll pick up extra moisture as they hit central parts.

Main rain due tomorrow.

We'll probably just get a light rain for about an hour from those storms that will die before they get here. The best storms are the isolated cells- both for photgraphing and severe weather

Thats why the colac storm ended up most likely a supercell.

Embedded storms like the ones we have to the west now are usually rubbish.

We probz get nothing on the change and then a rainband tomorrw morning

My brother from another mother. I feel your pain.

20 years diown the bay, not a lot to talk about because unless you catch one in clear air, its all murk very quick when these things cross the bay.
We do get to see some nice sunlit backsides tho as they smasssh paky and cranny.
