Also looks like some sort of warm front is moving over the southern end of the bay as temps have shot up to 16 and 17 in this area. 16.5 at home, 17 in Avalon and Frankston.

Interesting

Here it's just warming up because of the lack of cloud. Perhaps some convective stuff later?

Incidentally, BOM predicted a 12 degC max here today. It's already got to 16.5c so another epic fail... but these cut-off Lows can do their own thing at times.

When I heard "heavy rain" on the radio, I literally laughed. Event hit rates are only getting lower.

Just started bucketing down here on St Kilda road in Melbourne. Grey cold and miserable most of the day, hard to believe I am in the same city.

It seems areas west of Melbourne CBD was in it's own little Micro Climate today. Sunny with blue skies reached 18.2C at home in Wyndham Vale.

just got caught in that tropical downpour, everything flash flooded at supermarket, drain grates overflowing etc, water going where it should not be all over the place!

amazing rainfall rates, yet it was 5 minutes earlier clear except for some dark cloud forming over the mountain

some lightning would have been great, and not unexpected but there was nothing

Well we're not getting anything in Olinda! The Dandenongs seem to be the spawning ground for these heavy localised downpours, but they're dropping their load off the mountain. I would imagine Lilydale, Healesville and Kinglake are doing very well out of this.

I don't think I've ever been so relieved to see the heavy forecast rain for us, fizz. (There will be a lot of farmers in western Vic who agree!)

2mm more in FC.... So event up to 6mm  that's two big misses for us in a row.

Still (about) 30mm shy of the September average locally, so a chance that we will miss it (though tend to think we'll get there).

Huge falls in NSW, NT and Qld in what is usually one of the driest months of the year :?

More systems looming in the week ahead.

Yes, Orange in central western nsw is at 220mm for the month so far. All this inland rain will do wonders for our poor old river systems.
Cold wet foggy here atm, currently 5C

Just 0.4mm's up to 9am, making the event total here 0.9mm's.
Dreary day overcast with a cold southerly but no rain.
Hasn't been higher than12.7c so far today.
Still need almost 20mm's to reach the monthly average not sure if we will get there.

I give up with the radar today. This morning it showed light showers all over us and we got nothing, now it shows nothing and it's pouring! :?
Well AccessG and GFS charts for later next week are almost identical to those they had for this week, ie. another huge system with massive rain totals over S/E Oz. We got about 6mm from this "massive" event so I'll not hold my breath.

Yeah
Looks massive next week
The Systems are delivering but just in unusual areas
Will will no doubt get smashed sooner than later

I think next week will end up like this week: bland. I think reaching the average mms this month is on a knifes edge (in this area, that is)

If you're not going to give me rain, give me warmth g'dammit. Is September usually this cool?

I haven't looked at September as a whole, but the last week certainly has been chilly for pretty well all of us.....

My average max for Sept is about 10C, looks like a below average month for me.
Its only 4.5C here now.

5mm of drizzle for us in FC today so event cracked double figures :P cold day with a post 9am max of just 7C. Might get a bit more drizzly stuff in the next few hours.

Pretty good chance this will be a colder than average September for OZ now, though not by much. Will feel cold, though, as we've had our three hottest springs in consecutive years... 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Anyone dare start the new thread for the weekend trough (and then next weeks low).

My daytime temperatures are running almost a degree below the September average but by contrast
night time temperatures are almost 2 degrees above average, because its been so cloudy.
