Thanks guys, my guts was literally in knots today and to see that creek height falling was just the sweetest thing, but I can live without that for a long while. Floods are fine but when it's touch and go for evacuation that sucks lemons. Anyway I reckon it's beer o'clock and release some stress lol.........
Lovely spring rains and the beginning of floods like the old days. Next weekend could be fun. Wangaratta is my indicator, once that floods, you know its on.
It will be very interesitng to see how the new suburbs cope with anticipated deluges next week.
Forgot to add 104mm for this event and 139mm since friday
Yeah Gordon I couldn't have seen this coming either, was more frightened of going on water restrictions the way Tullaroop was heading, won't worry about that now though lol.

IMO new suburbs fair a lot better than the old ones. The drainage is larger and much more tolerant than the older suburbs.
44mm since sunday says the manual gauge but 32 in the auto
Had a massive downpour here around 4:45, the main street flooded, and had some small hail towards the back end of the shower. Now raining here again moderately, the Yarrawonga radar seems to think this is filling in behind. Whiteheads Creek here got to 3.6m which is the highest level since the night we had 130mm in 6 hours in Feb 2012. The Goulburn River is almost at the moderate flood level which is the highest since Feb 2011.
Total for the last 3 days is a 'paltry' 45mm. 62mm since Friday.
EDIT: as soon as I posted, had a rumble of thunder too, it's all happening!
Also that low centre just north of Beaufort at the moment looks awesome on radar!
84mm in the gauge now for the event, it just keeps raining. This is unusual for me since I'm 22 and haven't really seen sustained decent rainfall like this. The only time was 2011. Not counting the odd heavy storms etc.
If next week comes off the flooding will get serious.
This main rain band coming down over central areas now has been fairly lightning active in the last couple of hours. Reports of thunder around Seymour recently. Could get our main rainfall from this as the centre of the low trundles closer, now approaching Ballarat by the look of it.
Hopefully that low and rainbanf don't go east too quickly. Its been slow since yesterday and knowing our luck it will fly by and miss melbourne again...
Well it looked good until it finally got here, then it all just fell apart again, surprising with the centre of the low so close.
Now we'll have to wait for the low to get over to our southeast to see what it's got left in the tank tomorrow, I suspect not a great deal.
6mm more overnight in FC, so event up to 47mm. We will crack 50mm here now, and pretty good chance to get to 60 or 70mm. Just keeps it ticking along nicely. Little streams starting to flow well which is good.
The southern Wimmera through northcentral seems to be the real focus of flooding ATM. Hopefully there won't be too much damage.
Next system only a couple of days off but doesn't look overly wet at this stage (but another low for next week could be ).
Think our YTD now is 100mm above average so a pretty good chance for an above average year.
Hi Strato heard on the radio that Cairn Curran got to 88% and they
opened the gates to slow down the rate of rise, and make a bit of
airspace I suppose.
Another 15.5mm tipped out of the gauge this morning taking it to 88.5,
added to last fri/sat"s, 45, no wonder that it is
looking very soggy around here.
And still very drizzly here.
Cheers Chris
