Felt freezing up here today with low DPs gusty winds and a max of 6C. Got quite a few graupel showers but never wet the ground. Just coming thirty second bursts.
Betters shower for tomorrow with the front trailing overs us. Latest models pushed it just a tiny bit further south, so not look as wet now.
2mm here overnight. Looks like a rainy day ahead with this frontal "thing" running along its axis across us. Thinking it is more a warm front than a cold front, with temps rising with it.
Some good falls already out west and dumping in the alpine areas. Looks like at least 20cm at Buller overnight. Temps are a bit margins so be sleet or rain below (about) 1400m.
Fairly widespread shower development this afternoon with added activity extending from the west. Some nice falls if you can sustain a stream. Conditions a little unstable so there is a low risk for some isolated thunderstorms as well this afternoon, mostly across southwest areas but possibly extending to central parts.

Nice band of heavy showers formed on the trough line. Suspect it will soon give the odd rumble. Structure is better than radar suggests, because of the angle of the beam and flow.
Just a spotty day here so far. 1mm. Should get 5 maybe 10mm in the next hour.
Big falls clocking up in the ranges. Buller will soon pass 100mm mix of snow and rain (including freezing rain).
Another disctinctly spring evemt today, went for a walk between arvo showers, sun came out, you could smell the the whiff of a storm in the air.
Its a combination of smell, light, temp, winds, all combine to bring back a memory of a previous spring day that hits you like dejavu. Its the vibe!
Locally, some blossom out last monday, 4 days before heat, clever things trees, bees are working now.
