Low, trough & cold front: June 8-11

Post by Skywalker »

I didn't see a new thread for the approaching system later today so have jumped in and created one.
Change the title and dates if they need adjusting guys. :)

Pea-souper fog in Bendigo this morning. Not that cold though (8c).

Probably 15mm of rain and then it looks like a week of frosts next week as an anti-cyclone settles right over us.

Must admit I'm a bit puzzled by that forecast, no signs of anything coming our way over here, all happening in western Vic. :?
Blowing a hooley from the north here now, which also lessens our chances of rain. I hope to be surprised!

Getting windy here though still not that cold (about 9C). Rain to our northwest looks to be thickening up nicely. GFS is keen on this becoming a decent band overnight (so fingers crossed).

Hoping to get 10mm or so, and then the same again Friday into Saturday. We are then back to a big high (and maybe some frost nights :D ).

Rainband shreaded by the rainshadow here :( 2mm of rain and heaps of wind.

Good to see the good falls on the northern slopes.

Only 5c here for Saturday! :o
Seems a bit too low to me for early June, but will raise a few eyebrows if it happens!
An other 5mm overnight and today takes us to 48mm MTD.

Quick 4.5mm here today. Keeps things ticking over. MTD now on nearly 50mm. Few decent showers to our southwest so might get a bit more.

Nice front Friday night, then cold air for Saturday. I'm expecting about 7C for a max on Saturday here. 850T's suggest snow flurries to about 800m, but precip will be pretty sparse by the time the cold air moves in.

Got similar in FC. 10.8mm in the gauge so MTD now ~55mm. Dececnt start.

I quite like the looks of today with a solid front coming through late arvo/early evening. EC and GFS both have 10mm+ fall here with a good band of rain.

Bit of a repeat tomorrow, though a colder system and the band a bit more broken.

Then come the highs  with a couple of chilly mornings, though the uppers soon warm up way above average so will pretty quickly feel more like autumn rather than winter :?

Sitting here waiting. Looks nice, but too narrow and too fast :( had 2mm so far.

Been a lot of wintery weather so kinda just hoo hum (though temps have been more like May).

Torrential rain here, and backbuilding a little too, could be worth 10mm.
