Long way off but boy I hope it eventuates. Hopefully a good Autumn break at last.
BOM don't seem to be too keen on the idea but WZ is progging 20-40mm for here (NE Vic).
Oh and as I type they've gone down to 10-20mm. I guess it will swing around a bit until the models can get a better idea during the week.
That'll teach you Bervy, never trust the models that far out!
You would've been better off putting your thoughts into the "Looking towards substantial rainfall for SE Australia" thread.
Having said that, your region should still do better than most out of it this coming weekend, GFS has 25mm over you.
Looks like the most significant feature of this event might well be warmth. Couple of 25C for Melbourne and into the 30's further north. Not record breaking, but getting warm for mid April.
Frustratingly, all models now completely lost interest in rain
Interesting temperature variations on the western side of the bay today. Laverton at 21.8C and Melbourne sitting at 26.2C.
Is that purely down to sea breezes?
After 7pm last night my car was showing 21,
Very comfortable,
Had to splash water around the garden again,
Few new tree's and some still a little sick from the long drawn out lack of moisture.
Fair bit of mowing to do, so hold off a few hours with the heavy rain please..
Do we have a gardening thread ?

Ha! Now there's an idea Shell. I'd be on there more than the weather thread!
I think the title of this thread is going to prove to be one of the most inaccurate we've ever had, doesn't look at all rainy to me out there.
Why do my oranges split ?
They get water, not regular, which I understand can be the problem,
But my question is why when the lemon right next door that doesn't get watered doesn't split..?
My father in law asked the same question ,but he is a waterer so lack of water wouldn't be the case in his situation and his is a new tree, we purchased for a gift aiming to be the same tasty orange as our tree.

Symptomatic of the weather we've had in the last year or so Shell. Loooong dry spells interrupted by biggish (brief) wet spells. orange peel gets a sudden injection of moisture too fast and can't cope, so splits. Mostly a problem in younger trees, older ones should cope.
Sun's shining, my bonfires burning, lawn is mowed - wheres these showers then?
So the oranges are still on Topic.
Well I got 3 hours mowing in,
Did pack up once thinking I'm under this big low black cloud,
Made me think Low Heavy Rain. And panicked putting mower etc in car.
Only to find nothing what so ever..
Don't think it actually rained st all where I was,
