Yeah ILS certainly has the feel for it. I think GFS has handled this system appallingly just quietly so I would take this run like the others with a grain of very fine salt.

That said, unchanged forecast for mine. Widespread 20-50mm across the state, 50-100mm over northern areas and the northeast is possible on the track of the low. Could edge further south into southern districts too. I think it is a VIC system.

Areas of thundery rain in the SW to increase before translating east. Scattered showers and local thunder with some heavy falls and gusty winds likely over the Central districts from 1pm onwards and further east throughout the afternoon before spreading to statewide rain.

Patience is the name of the game with this system. Adelaide has copped 23mm since early this morning and it's still raining there...

The pineapple express is almost perfectly aligned atm.

G'day

Couldn't believe my eyes earlier and I'm still doubting it, elders reckons 100% chance 5-10 today and 100% chance 10-20 tomorrow. I hope this is the case.

Most of the early stuff mist here yesterday but then there was a big shower bout 7pm last night which brought the total up to 13mm in town here. Others had nearly 20mm out on farms to the west.

Cheers

Ha! Slip of the tongue there eh? One month's rain is a possibility though, looking at the sat pic and radar. This band of rain over Melbourne now is just the hors d'oevre and almost incosequential to what's behind, many areas in SA now over 50mm and rising fast! Rain just about to start here at 7pm after another mild and pleasant day.

Probably not DJ, but I reckon by this time tomorrow Melbourne's rain total could make interesting reading! ;)
(Melbourne June average rainfall = 49.1mm)

Very heavy showers here atm, already looking ominous. It's very springlike weather to be honest.

Up to 10mm here since 3.30pm and 19mm since thursday morning so will get to the inch mark no worries now, any more will be the cream :). About another 30mm to come looking at EC and OCF around 45mm. Some nice heavy convective showers and line of showers developing so would imagine some places could get a training of heavy rain in the coming hours. SA still looks amazing.

Looking really good on the radar now for central and western vic, storms and heavy rain from around st arnaud and NW vic should make its way down towards the central ranges and then push into Melbourne! Should be some healthy falls accumulating in Vic soon with 50mm+ falls around Adelaide since 9am. Expecting about 30mm here hopefully and good falls for north of the divide and gippsland which are soo dry.
Go the bombersss!

Looks like a train of storms developing to the NW of Melbourne, this could be very good news for heavy falls :)

Mildura just had 8mm in just under 30 mins so even though it doesn't look like much up there those showers/storms have some kick in them. So has the rain here, battling to get the young fella to sleep, have been trying for the last hour but the rains pounding the roof :x .

It was absolutely bucketing down just then. Models indicated some reasonable instability late today and it has come off. This is all ahead of the main rain band that will be overnight and tomorrow morning. This could really be quite a big event. The beginning of winter often throws up big rain events like this one.

Just had a loud rumble. :D
