Heard someone ring in on radio between stawell and halls gap, don't know the town, got around 80mm last night. BOM suggesting 30-40mm+ in storms today.
I expect nothing in Melbourne today due to lower level E/SE winds and upper Southerly winds pushing the storms further and further North any that develop over or near the ranges

Rhino.
Not surprised Rhino (Pomonal?) It is so frustrating that the Mt William gauge seems to have been taken out by the storms, the radar had an endless procession of rain over the Grampians yesterday & it would be fascinating to know what fell there if a lowland town got 80 mm!
The AWF forecasts remained unchanged this morning, with early estimates suggesting things are on track. As many have mentioned the risk of storms for Melbourne itself is rather low today due to the lower level southeasterly component keeping a lid on instability, but cannot be ruled totally, especially for outer suburbs. Already warm here, 28 degrees and a dp of 18 degrees. A lovely northeast wind. Shame I'll be at work today from 3-8pm.

There's the odd northerly being picked up in the observations. Not sure if this is promising or it is just a very weak Northerly. If some areas are going SE to NE then maybe something will develop on the convergence line? Interested in some thoughts from some of those who are more experienced and may be able to provide some more info!
BTW I can see towers going up out west where they were yesterday!!
Big Cu developing around the west central ranges, daylesford way, now so things should get going in around 30mins-1hrs time. Things didn't really get pumping yesterday until 2.30pm onwards so going to plan. Your sure right James regarding the humidity, dreadful out there.
haha, i guess when storms happen they DO almost always go up quickly!
hoping something will form over the suburbs today, the BOM said outer eastern suburbs and i guess i fit in there...will just have to wait and see, even if its close enough for lightning in the distance on dark..long time since i have seen night time lightning!
