Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

23mm here. Great to finally have some heavy rain. Some good thunder and lightning action last night too.

We could do with more, especially to reduce fire risk, but an inch is very welcome nonetheless. Hope everyone gets something decent today.

Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

Still a fair amount of inconsistency across models regarding rainfall totals. It could end up being a bit of a patchy system, with some areas getting a decent amount (especially with storms) and others not so much. Despite that, most areas of Vic and Tas look likely to get at least some rain over th...

Re: Series of weak troughs with some showers and storms: November 17-22

Not much to report weather-wise. Mostly cloudy with cool southerly winds this week, as we're mostly under the influence of a persistent ridge extending across southern Australia. Was hoping we might at least get some drizzle overnight but nothing eventuated here, though a few showers east of Melb. I...

A couple of thunderstorms here this afternoon, dropping 7mm.

Not quite as good as yesterday, but still a nice way to finish a hot day. Currently foggy and a cool 14c.

Re: Cool start to November followed by an extended warm spell: November 1-10

Did better than expected here yesterday, with 15mm all up. We had several storms from about 4pm onwards, including thundery rain later in the evening from the convergence line that Gordon mentioned. Some great lightning events at times with a few big forks across the sky and thunder that shook the h...

Re: Cool start to November followed by an extended warm spell: November 1-10

That's a great result Pengaz. Very warm here already. Currently 22c with a very strong and gusty northerly wind. Will likely get into the high 20s today, maybe close to 30. Things are drying out rapidly here now, following little rain over the past few weeks and a lot of wind. Should be some showers...

Re: Cool start to November followed by an extended warm spell: November 1-10

The pattern sure is looking slow. A big high will dominate for the next 10 days at least, gradually making its way to the Tasman where it then sits for a while. Looks like rainfall from an associated trough will be mainly along the east coast, extending into the eastern half of Vic. Western Vic look...

Re: Two deep lows: October 21-28

Had a cracker of a hail shwr in Gisborne town early this arvo, ice drifts everywhere of pea size hail on cars and against fencelines. Snowfall - what did you get? It just scraped us here. Had some hail but nothing like that. We did have a few good thumping showers this afternoon and evening but the...

Re: Two deep lows: October 21-28

Good to see Tas did OK. Just cloudy and windy here over the weekend, as expected. We managed a grand total of 0.4mm yesterday from a few brief showers. The main feature was the very gusty westerlies. A calm and settled day today. However that is all about to change, with gales developing overnight. ...

Re: Two deep lows: October 21-28

Sure is looking wet for Tas, with an extra focus in the southeast. Will be a drenching at your place HB. For Vic, the models have pretty much settled on focusing the rain in areas east of Melbourne (east central and south Gippsland) and along the southwest coast. Should be some fairly decent falls i...

Yes, incredible photo of that coldie. Windy here too this morning. Got woken up around 4am with an extremely heavy shower. Just over 10mm here from showers yesterday and overnight. That takes our monthly total to 88mm, which is an amazing turnaround from the past few months. Given the broader trend,...

Re: Showery westerlies with a series of fronts: October 11-16

11mm today. Most of it fell during the rain band and then a few more mm with the showers. Pretty much on par with the model forecasts, maybe a touch more overall. Either way, very welcome!

A further 9mm overnight from a southerly stream of drizzle and showers. Takes the overall event to 61mm.

52mm in total here. Very welcome, especially considering how much the cards are stacked against rainfall at the moment. Currently sunny, although a bit windy. Might be the odd shower later today, but otherwise a few fairly cool days coming up.

Re: Heavy rain and storms, with mountain snow: October 3-

37mm here. Currently drizzle and foggy. Very handy system and such a relief to finally get a decent rain event. Amazing totals further east with that relentless rain band. Hopefully it will also be useful for the NSW south coast, which has been extremely dry the past few months and also battling fir...

Re: Heavy rain and storms, with mountain snow: October 3-

Looks like a big event for eastern parts, and could be quite a shock in areas that have been dry for months. Hoping we’ll see a bit here too, although we’re skirting the edge, so just have to keep the fingers crossed. Even 10-20mm would be welcome as a temporary antidote to the big dry. We have fini...

Re: Warming up to early season heat possibly followed by rain: Late September to early October

It's looking like a predominantly eastern Vic system. Some of the forecast rain totals are intense, especially in parts of the north east and east Gippsland (which has been very dry). There's much more uncertainty about how far west any decent rain totals will extend. Will obviously need to see some...

Re: Warming up to early season heat possibly followed by rain: Late September to early October

It's looking promising, especially with convergence this far out, but still need to see how things progress over the weekend. I really hope it happens, as we're very much in need of decent rain here now. September will be finishing with just 18mm.

Good to see some rain about and the snow down there HB.

Just 1mm here. That takes the month to a grand total of 15mm. It's looking like we'll end with a very dry month here, especially for spring.
