Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

Pouring in Bendigo. Already more than 13mm and heaps more coming.

I can see this cold front delivering 20-30mm, easy.

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

It's looking like another 15-30mm possible here this week. Quite humid again today, and easterly winds are picking up.

Incidentally, very wet overnight in Sydney.

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

Access-G also keeps throwing up weird inland deluges too for the next week or so.

Whacky. And rather tropical...

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Bendigo broke a daily rainfall record with this event - 92mm in the 24 hours to 9am. That's with records going back to 1862. Worth noting that it broke a record that's stood since March 1914 (a soft 87.6mm). In Kangaroo Flat we got 96mm in the April 2020 storm which ended the last drought. Just 70mm...

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Campaspe River flood peak at Rochester expected tomorrow morning at around 114.8m.

Much lower than January 2011 and October 2022 floods (115.56m & 116m respectively).

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Wow! Some flooding problems East of Bendigo this morning. Campaspe one to watch, although likely to have two peaks North of Eppalock given it hasn't spilled yet.

Quite a lot of road closures, especially around Heathcote and Redesdale. Messy.

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

50mm so far today. Looks like a last hurrah with the incoming band from the West. That delivered 17mm to hopetoun, so probably a similar amount to add to the total here.

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

I'm seeing things being wound back. Looks more like a stock-standard 20 odd mm today.

First band approaching now. Looks damp rather than stormy.

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Still looks good for 30-60mm here, although the 18Z German model goes for 100mm...

It feels like this summer is more typical of what Sydney experiences, not Bendigo.

Well, 45mm today. We've had an incredible 138mm since Christmas Eve. It certainly keeps the lawns green and the plants happy.

Next Monday, yeah...

Hooley Dooley. We didn't get the hail, but 43mm this far.

Mad storms. Lots of flash flooding around.

Re: Mild then more showers, 29 Dec to 5 January

A bit of an upgrade in this evening's forecast models. Tomorrow afternoon looks like it could be quite volatile. LI of -6 and CAPE of 1200 according to GFS... Decent.

Re: Wet Christmas 23 to 28 December

Bendigo airport official rain total for 2023 now stands at 523mm. Just below average but the last three months have been above average. Extraordinary for an El-Nino year.

Re: Wet Christmas 23 to 28 December

Over 80mm for the event. A remarkable system.

Thankfully the creeks and rivers have peaked. The Avoca River at Logan managed to get to minor flood level, and flash flooding has subsided at Wedderburn.
