Re: Possible Wild Weekend Feb 5-7

Cracking loud thunder, lightning and torrential rain for about 15 minutes in Brighton East. Was at the beach just before it hit and the sky was black everywhere and decent humidity considering I was right next to the water. It’s rare to have 360 degree very grey/black sky. Gut feel tells me tonight ...

Re: Finally a storm outbreak first week of the New Year??

Don’t understand how a house in Melbourne could be cold enough to need a heater on! Our house currently is 21 degrees upstairs WITH windows open! Haven’t had a heater on since October. Downstairs no thermometer but I assume about 19. That’s pleasant enough. What indoor temps were people seeing recen...

Re: Possible STORMS - hot and cold Dec 5/6

Off topic a bit - where does the stupid weather app on iPhone get its data from? A friend yesterday said it was going to be 29 on Sunday in Melbourne according to app, yet the BOM forecast is for 30. Minimum temps all differ from what BOM says. I always look at the official BOM forecast, but a lot o...

Why are BOM still going for 23 degrees on Saturday if EC is going for a stinker?

What are the other models saying?

Re: Low crossing Vic 22 - 23 Nov

GFS 00Z swings in from left-field and all of a sudden has 40mm forecast for here on Sunday night - Monday. Nothing much on all other models, so I'm not buying it. My concern is the heat island we currently have. Late next week BOM are going for 30 degrees again in Melbourne. There appears to be too...

We haven’t hit 20 since 15 October. We’ve never had a full run of teens from 16-31 October since records began in Melbourne.

It’s already hit 19.4 in Melbourne today so it’s close!

Re: Trough with low to our north: 27-31 October.

What are the chances of Melbourne breaking the all time record and not hitting 20 degrees until November? Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to be 19 degrees so little margin for error. Is there much chance BOM are going under temp wise or does it seem fairly spot on? Temperature forecasting seems ...

In a state of shock here. :o Just tipped 32mm out of my gauge although the nearest two Melbourne Water sites (Deer Park & St Albans) are reporting 25-26mm. Think my ornamental tree might be starting to interfere with things with it's canopy growth. Time to move the gauge I think. We have FINALL...

Why is BOM going for 15-30mm?

Sure, hillbilly will get drenched, but inner Melbourne I’m guessing will be lucky to get 10mm

12.6 today in CBD and 12.7 yesterday which was the coldest October day in 10 years.

When did we last have consecutive sub-13 days in October?

Rain starting to thicken up on the radar and slowly moving into metro Melbourne.

I’m in the CBD now for work and light but steady rain is falling.

Fingers crossed the main trough holds together. Should be wet until at least late morning

Was there any media releases or similar preceding the winds or were they totally unexpected in their strength pre arrival?

In April, Melbourne’s maximum temp was only 23.5

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

Around 110mm mtd here. 15mm last night. Good to see the city in near record rain. Sad to see media isn't talking about it (would have been a different story if it was near record dry). COVID-19 is a bit of a distraction. The media in general aren’t that smart and would need a presser from BOM to al...
