Re: Victoria: Cooler Change. January 12th-14th 2009

Temp has dropped to 16.9 in Ferny Creek and we had about 4mm. It came down very hard at one stage. It's also very misty up here now. Great pics Ricki :)

Re: Victoria: Extreme Fire Weather January 9th-12th 2009

Yep Sherbrooke, Tremont, Ferny Creek too close for me. They said on the news that the Tremont one was arson as I suspected. At least they have the guy that tried to start a fire in Sherbrooke on Friday locked up. I remember Feb/March 2008 there were 40 fires within a km of me. Unbelievable!

Re: Victoria: Extreme Heat - January 11th 2009

Hi tizza, I stayed as the wind was blowing NNE so that is blowing away from me but had friends in the direction the fire was taking that were frantically ringing me to see what the CFA were saying on my scanner. I didn't think today warranted leaving here as the winds predicted aren't that strong, a...

Re: Victoria: Heatwave conditions moving S - Jan 7-11 2009

Welcome to the forum Darren and thanks for the info :) I didn't mention the GFDI at Tullamarine because it is 0 :!: which is strange. I know it's mainly grass there. I also know a lot of grass isn't still green like ours in drier areas but I'm thankful for our greeness atm as it's pretty terrifying ...

Re: Victoria: Heatwave conditions moving S - Jan 7-11 2009

Yes exactly droughtbreaker and Anthony. I've always wondered why Tullamarine had a FFDI lol. I'm not that worried about tomorrow up in the hills because of the rain we've had and also the ratings. As hillybilly would attest, it's still pretty green up here. The only worry of course is arsonists. The...

Re: Victoria: Heatwave conditions moving S - Jan 7-11 2009

Here's the BOM Fire Danger Rating issued at 4.47pm today for Monday 11th January http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/vic/forecasts/bushfire.shtml I see Dunns Hill has an FFDI of 43 which is Very High and not the Extreme rating but the latter rating is for all of the Central area. Tullamarine is 98 ...

Hey Karl and everyone, just checking in from Tassie. Finally got to a computer. Exciting times ahead I see. Re: Victoria: Christmas Week Rain Event. December 23-25th 2009

Well at 5.15pm we had our Christmas Eve street party, a BBQ sizzle. I have been living here for 25 years and this is the first street party I have been to as we generally go to Sydney for Christmas but now half our families have moved to Tassie. Anyway checked out the radar and at 5.45pm when Santas...

Karl, I think the only problem with seeing it in Gold Class is that they may not have the 3D screen. You have to see this in 3D!!! Check before you buy and enjoy. I'm going back again for sure. Two and half hours in another fantastical world :)
