Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

Very complex day overall, but it won't take much for thunderstorms to develop today. Exceptionally unstable with a very moist airmass. Of course focus will be particularly near and just ahead of the trough where forcing is greatest, but the atmosphere is that unstable thunderstorms require little fo...

Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

Horribly disgusting out there! Shocking visibility earlier and the humidity is just making it feel even worse. Can't wait for these conditions to be gone (not likely until later tomorrow).

At least we have possible storms to keep us distracted over the next little while :)

Re: Victoria - More heat and then some rain? - January 2nd to 5th 2020

Had 12.2mm to 9am today, which makes it 14.2mm over a couple of days and have had a further 0.4mm since then. That'll be it I'd say, definitely was good to hear rain on the roof again :P Friday does appear to be the next temperature and fire spike day, but of course will be all about timing of the c...

Just 3mm here thus far, but better than nothing! :)

As HB mentioned, will shift south a bit tonight and then back over fire zones tomorrow.

Re: VIC - Dec 23-31, 2019 Warming up with a strong front to end the Year?

Was woken up by some rain and thunder overnight, haven't heard that on the roof for a while, just goes to show how dry it's been! Regarding the fires, a relative of mine lives in Clifton Creek. Their property was ablaze last night from one of the significant fires (which was spotting ahead). They ha...

Cloud cover should shortly clear judging by satellite. Laverton quickly shot up to 40 degrees once it cleared.

Re: VIC - Dec 23-31, 2019 Warming up with a strong front to end the Year?

Up to 39 degrees not long ago here, now down to 37. Have just witnessed a few drops of rain here in Moorabbin. Not looking forward to work in the rail centre this arvo. Driving home from work at midnight last night also had a few drops on the windscreen. Nasty day out there with the wind, definitely...

Coldstream up to 39.7 not long ago. Comfortable here at 29 degrees in Moorabbin. Coastal areas loving the breeze I'm sure :P

Re: VIC - Potential record heat: December 15-20 2019

Maxed out at 23.8 here today at around 2:45pm. Quite a lovely day overall with a nice fresh breeze and welcome relief between our two scorchers. As we saw this afternoon, BoM upping the temperature in Melbourne again to 44 degrees, though they believe 45 isn't out of the question either, just not as...

2nd reminder, please remain on topic. :) Fortunately have escaped the worst of the heat today. Had a 4am work start and out by 12pm. Was in lovely air conditioned comfort, now back at home with the fan going. Currently sitting at 37.9 after earlier reaching 39.1. Getting word the Melbourne forecast...

Please remain on-topic.

Another relatively cool start here. Got down to 12.5 overnight before an expected top today of 20. Making the most before next weeks heat.

Friday on current projections looking quite nasty, the AU models showing widespread areas at 40 or above.
