The last three Decembers have provided a widespread rain and thunderstorm event across the NT during the week before Christmas before spreading over the SE corner with heavy falls. Could we be seeing a repeat.
BTW when was the last TC before Christmas in the NT?? TC Tracey?

Quite right. It is looking mediocre in the short term. However keep an eye on Saturday. With a short wave coming in the afternoon it could provide extra kick to showers that get going, not expecting thunder, but with a little more cold air, could be some 10mm falls about. EC has 3mm here Thursday wh...

This season has certainly eased back somewhat in the past few weeks with rainfall, but don't be fooled into a false sense of security with fine weather this week and long sunny days causing extensive undergrowth and regeneration of fire affected areas and forests. I can't see very hot weather in the...

There usually is not a great deal of interest in the wet season over the NW of the country but TCs are notoriously more severe in this part of the world. Last season was unusually quiet compared to forecasts. With SSTs quite warm in the region, we could see plenty of opportunity to have an increased...

The wet season in QLD is off to a slowish start but the easterly trade winds are developing this week and this could see enhanced shower and inland storm activity over the tropical regions north of about Mackay through the week. The next 3-4 weeks should see a dramatic increase in activity and poten...

Some significant storm action across the north of the country over the past few weeks and increasing likelyhood as the weather dies down over the south that things will fire over the north further. Some heavy falls have been recorded in the the NW Top End over recent days and looks set to continue. ...

Looks like the notorious date for weather could provide the state with it's next chance of thunderstorms. It doens't look like a widely spread event but the eastern half could get a few mm out of it. Potential in this system is how much moisture can develop in the NE winds and how close the low pres...
