Rain forecast Thursday: Sheffield 150-200mm, Deloraine 120-200mm, Scottsdale 120-200mm, Devonport 80-120mm, Exeter 80-120mm, Burnie 80-120mm. The higher of these ranges would be all time 24 hr records in some cases. For example the Scottsdale record is just 110mm.

Emergency Services press conference just now in Tassie. Concerns over big falls in the north. Could be up to 250mm in the Great Western tiers in 24 hours.

Forecast Tas rain Thursday: Deloraine 120-150mm, Sheffield 120-150mm, Scottsdale 100-120mm, Burnie 80 - 100mm, Devonport 90-100mm, Launceston 60-70mm. This would cause major flooding

Thursday Tas rain forecasts include: Sheffield 100-120mm, Deloraine 100-150mm, St Marys 60-90mm, Burnie 60-80mm, Launceston 60-80mm. Launceston October record just 42mm and all time record 88mm. Could be historic.

The models are certainly concerning for northern Tasmania Thursday/Friday - catchments are wet so it could lead to major flooding on the South Esk, North Esk, Meander and Mersey rivers.

13.3 degrees here at the moment (9.30pm) in Launceston. Actually higher than our June daytime average! Melbourne is a crazy 16 degrees - wouldn't be out of place in January!

Tasmania rain last 24 hrs: Mt Barrow 72mm, Scottsdale 50mm, Launceston 42mm, Corra Linn 38mm,Low Head 34mm, Devonport 29mm, Hobart 3.6mm. Launceston has received 42mm of rain in the last 24 hours. The last time we had a > 40mm fall was 5th August 2020.
