Re: Big rain event 12-14 October

Massive disaster with the Maribyrnong River this morning in inner Melbourne too. A lot of properties flooded, somewhat unexpectedly it seems. Just been catching up with the developments on 7 news. I'm just completely speechless at what's unfolding with the Maribyrnong. :o On a separate note my mum ...

Re: Big rain event 12-14 October

25 to 40mm for much of the metro so far and should see another 20 to 40mm for most today crazy wet :o Settle down Twister, there's no chance we will see another 20-40mm here in Melbourne. :? Here at work in Melbourne's west we had about 15-18mm to 9:00am with an additional 4mm since. Far from convi...

Yummy yummy donuts. Very tasty indeed, especially right now. Wouldn't exactly be a bad result if things fizzed out altogether. Highly unlikely though at this stage.

Since when has the BOM made sense about anything they do. ;)

Re: Big rain event 12-14 October

BOM frantically updating forecasts, and spreading the SWW for heavy rainfall across most of the state, with damaging winds now added for elevated areas. The one saving grace of the original forecast for Thursday was lack of strong winds - looks like we've lost that :(. Any windy filth is going to m...

4:20pm forecast is out. Rainfall for Melbourne has been slightly downgraded, now saying 30-50mm.
Will be down to 10-15mm by Thursday morning. :P

Re: Big rain event 12-14 October

I'm still in "wait and see" mode. Forecasting 70mm for Melbourne this far out isn't reliable just yet... maybe for Sydney or Brisbane, but not Melbourne, even in a La Nina year Same here, very much taking a wait and see approach & ignoring all the hype surrounding this system. There i...

15mm here at work today. Took full advantage & moved all of the plants outside for a decent drink. :D

Damn radar is down which is very untimely :x
The Laverton radar has been a complete lemon ever since they did that major upgrade a few years ago. :x

Re: Stormy Cold Front to end the Month August 28-

Wet morning here at work after a sensational couple of days down on the island. Took the opportunity while I was down there to completely clear out the gutters in preparation for the incoming system (damn gum trees).

Could be in for a potential 10-15mm today with a bit of luck.

8mm here all up in the boredom zone, didn't even make double figures again. No hail or thunder to report.

Sun currently out, I'd say that's it, all over.

Re: Lingering low with showers and rain 11-18 August

Yeah apart from the Mallee, Wimmera and North Country it is wet and very wet in some places with lots more rain to come next week or so and its only AUGUST massive 6 months ahead. You forgot to mention my pathetic area here in the western suburban wasteland amongst that list. We have had nothing bu...

Re: Lingering low with showers and rain 11-18 August

Crazy gradients with this low. Hobart cbd on about 30mm but Kunanyi over 150mm, just 10km apart. Similar story in Vic with the cbd on zero, but spots approach 100mm in the Yarra valley and south Gippsland. Certainly is some crazy differences in rainfall totals HB & my two properties are a prime...

Re: Showers, ran and wind, 1 August -?

Looks like I'll have to start watering some plants after work. Some of them starting to look sad as we have had bugger all rain around here, with a pathetic 4mm for the past 7 days & a week of disgusting windy filth.

Re: Showers, ran and wind, 1 August -?

Decent storm last night in our neck of the woods, had everything with loud claps of thunder, lightning & even hail. Woke us all up after falling asleep only an hour earlier & even sent the Kelpie running for our bedside.
If this had hit during Spring/Summer it would of been total destruction.

Looks like we are in for a horrid period of disgusting windy filth later tonight, which will virtually wipe out anything gained from the rain that actually falls. :x

Looks like a big system looming, with a low south of Australia throwing up a series of fronts, becoming more significant for rainfall midweek. Wind however looks like a constant (unfortunately). Yep, looks like a week of disgusting windy filth coming up. It's putrid out there today. :cussing: :cuss...

Seem to be right in the sweet spot for once with that nice stream of moderate rain pushing through back home.
Meanwhile it's been on & off showers here at work.
