Thankfully the creeks and rivers have peaked. The Avoca River at Logan managed to get to minor flood level, and flash flooding has subsided at Wedderburn.

Flooding around St Arnaud and Wedderburn today. Calder Hwy shut at the latter with many homes impacted.

Weather is clearing here. Maybe some bits and pieces this afternoon...

Dunolly just broke its Daily rainfall record (going back to 1881) - 96mm to 9am.

Quite a bit more incoming from the NE. Some embedded thunderstorms. One wild day...

Low seems to be centered over Swan Hill at present.

Already over 50mm. Strong Easterly winds, driving rain, and not very pleasant. Very much an 'indoors' day.

Some places approaching 100mm around Maryborough.

Wind is howling. Round two on the way from the Mallee...

Feels quite cold outside. Now 14c after being 31c earlier this afternoon.

UKMet 12Z made me laugh this morning with 222mm forecast just to our West.

BOM WATL has 40mm which is more realistic. Christmas Day morning/lunchtime could be quite volatile. I've cleaned out the spouting around the house...

I'm at the point of modifying travel plans this Christmas Day due to the threat of severe storms unloading large rain quantities on our place.

Looking ominous. Thinking 30-80mm is possible here.

38c is the hottest temp so far today in the Mallee. I think 45c is not going to happen. 40c might not either.

45c forecast for Mildura and Swan Hill today. Marree got to 46.5c yesterday. I struggle to see it getting warmer than that in Vic and NSW.

Remarkable temperature gradient too. Will be volatile, especially in SA today.

This one again looks impressive and very long lived. Days of humid weather. Starts with showers and rain then sorta clears, then showers and storms return in waves. Should deliver for all of southeast Australia, and be heavy out in western Vic and South Australia which is a bit unusual. We are stuc...

Certainly one to watch. EC has a signifcant amount of rain in the Mallee next week. Hopefully that won't eventuate.
