The new Weeaproinah :). What's your mtd?

Only 4mm here, but takes mtd to 83mm vs 66mm average. Cool too, high so far today is 18C. (Edit - that proved to be the high.)

Re: Becoming warm to hot, followed by showers: January 22-27

Same. Rain seems to be setting in. Trying to reconcile our 'Possible shower' forecast issued a few minutes ago, with a radar that shows this rainband stretching back to the Eyre Penisula in SA. :? I must be missing something.

Re: Becoming warm to hot, followed by showers: January 22-27

Some impressive boom crash opera here this afternoon, but those storms were passing just to our north. The cloud band over northern Victoria has stalled and is edging south. Will be some patchy rain for tomorrow. Expect solid falls for the northeast, possibly extending west. Radar looking better to ...

Same, just steady and heavy. 23mm here, though clearing now.

76mm mtd, 194mm for summer so far.

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

This system isn't getting any clearer! Yesterday, BOM's 4 dayer had the low center moving through central Bass Strait. Now they have it basically transiting south of Tassie :?

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

On the plus side, I do like an atmosphere that 'wants' to rain despite the forecast :).

Our forecast was point blank 'No rain' (5% chance) and we've had light rain for about an hour.

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

Interesting article on rain for the coming week: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-01-13/ ... /103314364

Meanwhile, 8 day WATL still looks okay this morning, particularly for eastern and southeastern Tasmania.

Thanks for starting this thread hillybilly. Models are still messy, but to my untrained eye seem to be firming - and we need somewhere to discuss this system(s)!

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Well, what a system to start 2024. Rainfall records broken, major summer floods. Happy El Nino!

Time for a new thread though, with this system having moved on. As hillybilly suggests, the title could be a bit vague :? !

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Hopefully a one-off, and gone by morning. But after the last few events, guess we can't be sure :?

Decent drizzle here - should add up to a few mm by morning.

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Wow! Some flooding problems East of Bendigo this morning. Campaspe one to watch, although likely to have two peaks North of Eppalock given it hasn't spilled yet. Quite a lot of road closures, especially around Heathcote and Redesdale. Messy. Amazing how quickly rain like this lot can impact. Eppalo...

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

A miss for us (relatively speaking!) with 14mm to 9am. Hard to believe given the warnings and storms all around us for the last 18 hours - to the north, south, east and west. Oh well, guess we were about due. Still very humid, so could be a late addition, but the models aren't excited. (Edit: Suspec...

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Only a couple of mm here so far, but early days.

Annoying having the Rainbow radar operating so intermittently :(. When there's weather coming in from our north-west, there's no decent substitute for it.

Re: Deepening low with rains and storms: January 7-10

Models looking better for us this morning than yesterday. Maybe not extreme totals, but something like 20-40mm over today and tomorrow, which would be a great top up.

Not sure I'd want the intense rainfall rates forecast for the north in the warning.

Still looking good this morning. WATL has virtually the entire state down for 25mm plus, which is something I've rarely seen.

Fingers crossed for southern Tassie - about due for a win :?

30mm in under an hour here, lots of local flash flooding. Most lightning I recall - several direct hits here or almost. Power just back on. Crazy storm.

Models (and BOM's 4 dayer) holding up well for rain. Totals look decent, and rain should begin for most in the next 48 hours.

Re: Mild then more showers, 29 Dec to 5 January

Not quite in that league, but a cool day here with a max of just 14.5C.

It's been an odd December. Only one day over 30C, but few really cold days either, so our average maximum will be about average - even though it feels like it's been colder.

Mild then more showers, 29 Dec to 5 January

Looks like a few cool/mild and almost dry days except for the far northwest, then more wet weather from about the 2nd to get 2024 off to a good start :). Favouring the east at this stage, although WATL has significant rain for west central and north central, and at least something further west and n...

Re: Wet Christmas 23 to 28 December

Another 13.5mm makes 64mm for the event and 114mm mtd. That's already our second highest December total in our 27 years here. (December is often a disappointing month for us.)
