Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Solid rain here suddenly with that cell that popped up almost out of nowhere. Luckily it's after school pickup time.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Ideal weather (for me!) with sun in the mornings and fronts coming through in the evenings. Looking cold and wet for the week - glad I got all the bike riding done up front this week. 14mm so far here over the past few days and the incoming front looks meaty. Road Weather Alert issued by the BOM, ha...

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

I didn't expect today to be like this at all. Maybe a bit cloudy, but damp and grey? Love it :D I didn't expect it to be this cool either, considering the forecast top of 19 and it's currently 14C in the CBD and breezy. I underdressed! (didn't forget the all-important umbrella though). Looking forw...

Some wonderful totals out west - east and CBD missed out this morning but finally firing up in the CBD - pouring outside here at work just on lunchtime and I'll venture out soon!

Thanks JS and HB, that's a bit more like it, after the semi-disappointing result for here last week.

OCF ensemble has upgraded here to 28mm for Thursday so fingers are crossed.

Re: Major upper and surface lows 1 - 5 May

Just been looking at some photos from the tornado that went through Lake Purrumbete Holiday Park (near Camperdown, SW Victoria) around midnight last night, two injuries reported, gas leaks, lots of trees down etc - hope everyone is ok. https://www.standard.net.au/story/6101593/cabins-thrown-over-300...

Re: Major upper and surface lows 1 - 5 May

Frustrating day yesterday with zero mm, but great to see some larger totals where it's needed more than my parched back garden :)

Off the mark overnight with 7.6mm so far (local AWS) including a short spell of heavy rain just on 6am.

Re: Weak troughs and highs: Feb 16-24

Lovely early morning weather, 15C when I left home and not too cold after riding up the 1-in-20 to Sassafras. Then descended into a sea of fog - was colder down in The Basin than up on the hill.

5mm from that front - started with some lovely refreshing light rain on the bike, then steadily increased - managed to get inside before it pelted down for about three minutes.

Re: VIC: First week of Feb 2019 - A break in the pattern, hot then showers/storms

6mm yesterday evening - was hoping for more but seeing bulk of the rain go to the west yesterday I'm ok with what we got.

22C/19C this morning - seemed to go from cool-ish to warm and humid in no time - some more rain now with that cell that's popped up over the NE suburbs.

Re: VIC: First week of Feb 2019 - A break in the pattern, hot then showers/storms

Wasn't disappointed with last Wednesday evening's lightshow - hopefully this Wednesday delivers too. 31C/19C here. Well there is an absolute beast of a storm Southwest of Ouyen on the satpic. Nice circular structure. Wow, looks mightily impressive on the satpic :o well dont forget that big storm we ...

Re: VIC - Hot and humid with showers and storms: Last week of January 2019

Well that was quite the surprise last night, 16mm locally and plenty of lightning, thunder over the course of the evening. Only the dog was not impressed. Reports of some hail in a small area of Donvale (near Serpells Terrace) where a number of large tree branches came down including two that fell o...

Re: More heat and possible records: January 19-27

Max of 40.6C on the PWS here today, thankfully the forecast of 'Humid and hot' didn't eventuate with DP's around 13C for much of the day which meant the evaporative cooling did quite well today. Forecast for Friday has nudged up each day - now 45C forecast. Horrendous temperatures in SA, been lookin...

Got to 34.1C at Viewbank yesterday - 33.4C on the PWS briefly around 3pm - so the hat remains uneaten.

Not liking the looks of late next week if EC is anything to go by - appreciate the analysis on here as always from all.

26C here, no wind and overcast. I'll eat my hat if it gets to 37C.

If the amount of dust on the bike after the Warburton Trail ride yesterday is any guide, it's very dry out there. BoM only showing 1-3mm for here tomorrow.

Re: VIC: How Hot? 6 Jan 2019 - 14 Jan 2019

We've had two brief showers. This is classic elevated warm front rainfall marking the onset of increasing warm air advection aloft. The movement of the showers from westsouthwest to eastnortheast tells you all the cooler air is to our east. Yes some interesting weather early this morning out on the...
