Re: Troughs with showers/ storms 11 Jan - ?

Thursday is looking good. EC is confident on wide spread storms, the other models less so. All the ingredients are there, so expect a few surprises. Lots of tropical moisture coming into play. Depending on how this cyclone plays out, precip values could rocket over the southeast (and you know that m...

Re: Troughs with showers/ storms 11 Jan - ?

Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle seems to apply where these troughs are concerned… Currently, this system could be even better given the trough looks like it will extend further — and it looks warmer too. But as we all know, it could shift by 400ks or disappear from the charts by tomorrow. Unfortu...

Meanwhile, trough no. 2 is appearing in the charts — a new round of winners & losers starting around Wed lol.

Heavy rain, but not even a single rumble.

Re: Vic - potential rain in the east from an inland low 5-8/1/22

Good news, the BOM has downgraded Melbourne's chance of rain/storms tomorrow, which means we headed for a deluge :)

Re: Vic - potential rain in the east from an inland low 5-8/1/22

Every time we get an easterly dip, it seems like Melbourne gets caught in the nothing in between.

Models seem keen on thundery conditions all night long, but we'll see.

Melbourne should see some rain tonight. 20mm in and around the east wouldn't surprise me.

Re: Warm to hot with some showers and storms: November 29 to December 3

Just very high-based cells with rain if you happen to be right under a very small downdraft. Very 'meh'. A few active cells in the clear air out West, but even they're looking rather mediocre. Hopefully a repeat tomorrow. Tomorrow looks better if anything. Slight timing difference in the models, wi...

Looks like I'm going to miss out again. They always seem to die just as they're leaving the bay, only to then reform once out towards narre.

Re: Warm to hot with some showers and storms: November 29 to December 3

EC and GFS are suggesting that storms are likely tomorrow, however steering looks poor, i.e they may not go anywhere, they'll need to form overhead for you to see one. Thur might be better in this regard.

Those lucky SOBs… I’ve got a good view of the edge. Just constant, ominous rumbles and dark, saturated looking clouds…

Re: Slow moving trough with rain and storms: November 3-5

Anyone know wha's happened to the WZ radar and lightening tracker (non subscription)? Seems to have changed for the worse and the tracker has become PRO only :( I am a Pro subscriber and I get the following: "Looking for Stormtracker? Our previous Stormtracker has been discontinued. We will co...

Re: Slow moving trough with rain and storms: November 3-5

Decent, slow moving rainband, but neither EC nor GFS are confident on storms. All of the lightning activity is restricted to north of the border just about. However, the conditions are somewhat there, but this might be another case where the lightning fires over west vic, but then peters to the odd ...

Re: A deep low with gales, heavy rain, storms and coastal surge: October 28-31

Good event, some decent rain, but could’ve done without that wind. It was even worse than the previous windstorm with strong and sustained gusts for hours. Strange lack of felled trees however. All the weak ones must’ve been vetted by the previous storm. Though there is still leaf litter absolutely ...

Re: Complex low to bring Rain, Storms Snow Oct 13th to 17th

I expected 50mm last week, only got 3mm. So this week i won't be expecting anything thank you. It’s looking a lot better this side of Port Phillip this time. EC and GFS have heavy rain through the eastern half of Melbourne passing through around 8 - 9ish Wednesday night. It’s more of a traditional ...
