Re: Developing Pressure Trough - Potential Widespread Rainfa

Hi Pane, I'd say so. Even the BOM forecast rainfall chart is showing a large event 4-8 days out: http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsp

Yes, bring it on. Just back from the gym and it touched down to 5c in the car, reading 3.9 at home at 11pm. Great way to cool down after a workout

Re: Frosty mornings and thundery afternoons? (26/06/2012 - ?

Can't wait for some decent sunshine, and with the days getting longer i'm loving that. Also loving the prospect of some heavy frosts over this weekend as the high drifts over us. Nothing quite like sitting on the veranda rugged up with a glass of scotch on a saturday night

Wow, that's a big drop Blackie. Why so much? is that the normal seasonal fall-away or have they been carrying out their 'controlled releases'?

Just came a cross this quick timelapse from Alex Cherney (of Ocean Sky fame) from the most recent aurora sighting a few weeks back (the one I didn't see!)

Re: Losing Sense

Like the topic! I think for me it would have to be hearing. I lost the sense of touch in the tip of my left thumb late last year when I crushed it in a car door. for about 4-5 months there was just tingling, and combined with losing the nail as well, i was amazed how important that tiny part of our ...

Re: Tremors???

It really was awesome for me too. Felt the 2009 one as well, it was 6th March, mid morning from memory. That time I was in the office in Scoresby - remember the windows shaking like crazy, and the initial shockwave sounded like a deep cracking noise. This time however, my wife and I were quietly wat...

Re: Victoria: Day to Day weather talk

Took my boy for a trip on Puffing Billy yesterday - was engulfed in fog all the way to Upwey/Tecoma, then burst through to glorious sunshine. Incredibly cold rattling along on the train and remarkable how much warmer it was up at Emerald. Made it down to the coldest night this year back home overnig...

Apologies to cat lovers out there, but this made me chuckle. Quite what was going on in it's 'creator's' mind, we may never know!

HEADS UP TONIGHT!

Wow, just read about a newly discovered 'near earth object' - a 26m-diameter asteroid is on a very near miss with earth TONIGHT. Only discovered less than 36hrs ago as well. Google this: 2012 KP24 for more info... It is projected to skim by at 0.1 lunar distances , about 30,000 miles away. Still, th...

Re: Burst of winter 23rd - 27th May

I'm loving this last few days! 44.5mm for the whole event, and yes Geoff - was also woken at around 4.30-5am with the rain. probably a few more since I left for work as well. Took a trip up to Lake Mountain yesterday for some snow play with the family - it was magnificent up there :) probably around...

Re: Burst of winter 23rd - 27th May

Your right Geoff, just been down to Montrose with the little fella for his swimming lesson - was teaming down with thick heavy drizzle, and couldn't even see the Mount. Arrived back from Singapore earlier this morning and first thing I noticed when I walked outside was the late-autumn smell - very d...
