Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

7mm overnight. More coming but probably not the big totals that were predicted in yesterday's forecast models. Maybe another 10mm today and that'll be it. It's also tracking to be our coldest April since 2006. Max temp mean about 2c below average, and at the current site only 1995, 1996, and 2006 we...

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

More or less a consensus in the forecast models for 25-40mm here, most of that falling tomorrow. We might be in with a shot for 200 mm this April. The last time we had 200mm in a calendar month was Oct 1975. Although there have been several greater 30-day rain totals since then (i.e. Jan-Feb 2011).

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

Around 110mm mtd here. 15mm last night. Good to see the city in near record rain. Sad to see media isn't talking about it (would have been a different story if it was near record dry). COVID-19 is a bit of a distraction. The media in general aren’t that smart and would need a presser from BOM to al...

An impressive 40mm around Donald and Charlton. What a way to start the winter cropping season!

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

A very timely and welcome 25mm here overnight. That takes us to 160mm MTD. It's our wettest April ever recorded. Only 1880 and 1939 get close.

Airport AWS only on 102mm MTD.

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

It's been steadily raining but with gradually increasing intensity for a few hours. Close to 20mm so far.

Some places in the Wimmera already over 30mm.

It could be an interesting night tonight. EC and others chiming in with 30mm.

Certainly an April to remember.

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

Yes, nice upgrades in most forecast models this morning for the last week of April. Many of the local farmers are busy sowing at present, and good rains will really kick off the crops in a big way.

Agriculture seems to be the shining light in the Australian economy this year...

It's been dry here with cool mornings.

Sunday might be quite wet with rain totals of 10-15 mm forecast.

Re: Strong front with wintery blast: April 10-14

Our YTD rain is about 225mm. 134mm of that since April 1. Our annual average is 560mm so not too shabby.

Grass is green. And the sky is filled with lorikeets, galahs, and cockatoos. Not sure how the local farms are looking since we're not allowed to drive past them, which is sad...

A surprise 7mm in the gauge this morning. Not cold and rather subtropical outside.

Weekend looks more like the dry polar-modified airmass type of system.

Re: Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

Another 35mm overnight, event total 87mm. I seem to have to evict spiders from the Davis on a regular basis. The obs above were the average of my 2 manual gauges, little variation in them. That’s fantastic. So nice getting too much rain for a change. Been a long time since it’s felt like this... pr...

Re: Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

Now that was the mother of all autumn breaks. 93mm since 3pm yesterday (a daily rain record broken), 123mm in the first 3 days of April.

The Gully over the back fence is still a river...

88mm in the gauge now. The Daily rainfall record for Bendigo is 87.6mm set at the old prison site in March 1914. But airport AWS has had only 41.4mm so far today.

Re: Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

Another bout of heavy rain. One crazy night... We're closing in on our 24hr rainfall record. And yet the airport AWS has recorded a mere 32mm while we've had nearly 70mm (and 100mm for this week). It always seems to under report what we normally see in our gauges. Wonder why ? Topography. Meanwhile...

Re: Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

It's going to be a big cleanup tomorrow. Up to 60mm so far since 3pm. Streets are flooded, heaps of SES call outs. Heaviest rains since 2010-11.

And it ain't over yet.
