Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Snowed heavy here just on 7am. Looking back through my obs, coldest here for April since 1995. Gauge now over 50mm with more melt to come. Few photos from Ferny Creek and Olinda. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EypJyYTUYAAEIZ7?format=jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EypJxgiVIAEX81E?format=jpg&...

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

The garden this morning. Had melted a bit, so must have been deep. The funnel on the AWS was about 2/3rds full. Temp dipped to 1.8C which is cold enough for snow, so very probable we had some flakes. I went out during one of the heavy showers just before and did seem to be some flakes mixed in with ...

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Just had a cracking coldies pass just south of here. Couple of crack booms, gusty winds and bit of hail. Just on 4mm for the day. Missed the best of it so far with 5-15mm to the south of me.

Expecting lots of showers to set up over the bay as the night goes on.

First snow falling in the alps.

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Turned showery here with fog drifting in over the trees. Icy 48 hours coming up. Hope a bit spills over into the north, though looks pretty hit and miss once you cross the divide. Just 7.6C for a min and another mm in the gauge here since yesterday. Substantial snow producer coming up. Thinking Lake...

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

To my amateur eye, seems to be serious disagreement in the models re the outcome for Vic for this event: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-09/second-cyclone-odette-forms-off-wa-coast-blue-alert/100057858 ? Weatherzone charts have the ex-cyclone plunging harmlessly south into the the deep Southern...

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Wild night up here with rain, fog and wind, and now a chilly 9C after a summery 24C yesterday. Feel likes we’ve gone from summer to winter and forgot autumn on the way :D Surprised to find 18mm in the gauge and still raining. Bit of a Dandenongs special with a good topographic signal. Not so good fo...

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

No rain likely here this weekend. The dry April continues... But the West Coast of WA is in for a wild ride this Sunday-Monday. Potentially quite nasty... You should get some tonight. Weekend, not so much :( Progs not much changed. Cold wet and windy for much of the south and ranges. Sparse in the ...

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Nice shot Derwent.

Progs not much changed. Sharp front and rainband tomorrow morning, though moving quite quick so falls mostly 2-10mm.

Cold outbreak for the weekend is mid autumn ripper.

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Progs ramping up the weekend front. EC now got spot falls over 50mm, though very much a southern and mountain event. Snow levels dropping to about 900m early Sunday. Decent front before that early Friday with a band of heavy showers and a chance of a rumble. Here’s a photo of the fog this morning lo...

Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Couple of front to end the week, with the first for late on Thursday, followed by a strong front for Saturday. Bit moisture starved, but still be plenty of showers in the south and mountains, with possible moderate falls in the usual wet spots. The air is very cold for the first half of April with 8...

Re: Long warm and dry spell: April 1-?

Back to about normal temperature for April with a max of 15C yesterday in FC and about the same again today. One more warm one to come on Thursday before a potentially impressive mid autumn cold outbreak. Progs showing some snow on the alps, which will be the first since the start of January if my m...

Re: Long warm and dry spell: April 1-?

Hot 27C in FC. Was a short lived max with with a wafting sea breeze freshing during the arvo. Misty out there now and looks like we might sneak a bit of drizzle and fog overnight. Don’t think I’ve ever seen it so busy this time of year down on the coast. Lots of people taking those overdue holidays ...

Re: Long warm and dry spell: April 1-?

Beaut day on the beach yesterday with a max of 31C down here in Walkerville (and 26C in FC.). Pretty windy, so thankful we had all that rain a week back (was 80mm in the gauge when I got here). Those Hobart numbers are not good. We’ve been lucky not to see records here. Synoptics just haven’t quite ...

Re: Long warm and dry spell: April 1-?

26C in FC yesterday. Today looks about 1C warmer. Not quite at record levels but not far off. Was a nice day out on the water SUPing and snorkelling. Spotted a few large rays enjoying the calm warm shallows :D Tomorrow looks a tad cooler in south with a change slowly moving up, but north continues h...

25C in FC yesterday. Hottest day in a long while. Today looks a touch hotter. Minimum of 17C this morning is about the average maximum for April. Good couple of days on the coast...so down at Walkerville :D

Re: Long warm and dry spell: April 1-?

Fell just shy of 20C in FC yesterday. Today will go higher. There's a solid inversion with our temperature on 17C at 6am, while it was around 10C at the bottom of the hill. Will easily pass 25C on the flats and 20C on the peaks around the Nongs. Warmer again Friday and Saturday. Beaut weather for th...

Long warm and dry spell: April 1-?

Bit of a change from recent patterns with a long mild to warm and perhaps even hot stretch of weather ahead. Could well get close to April records, though currently looks like we might fall just short. No meaningful rain in the offering for at least ten days.

Re: Possible Autumn Break 21-25 March?

Min of 7.9C here today and max of 15.1C. Finishes of a cool and wet month for us with 130mm. YTD is just shy of 400mm which is racking a fair bit above average :D

Lots of warm days ahead. New thread.
