Re: Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

Looking like a good autumn break for central and eastern areas. 15-50mm widespread, then a handy follow- up on Saturday with the second part. Should be the odd rumble tomorrow with locally heavier falls. Of course, for some the autumn break came back on about January 10. Has been one weird 12 months...

Re: Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

Progs look pretty similar this morning. Showers and storms developing today in NSW and SA spreading into northern Victoria late. Heavy falls by the morning through eastern areas. The boundary for the heavier falls seems to be a line from about Melbourne to Bendigo. Northeast looks like it will do ve...

Series of troughs then a deep low: April 1-5

A couple of troughs moving through on Wednesday and Thursday followed by an intense low for the weekend. Classic deep and cold system, so snow on the alps, gales and a storm surge on the coast, and potential for heavy falls in the usual favoured spots. Showers and storms developing later on Wednesda...

Re: Settled week then rain? 23-31 March

Finished on 10.0mm and month on 99.9mm (yep kid you not). Normally measure down to 0.2mm but on one day the tipping bucket had half a tip in it. Might check the gauge this morning just in case it has a 0.1mm sitting in it from fog yesterday morning ;) Makes the third month in a row above average. Ni...

Re: COVID-19 Discussion and Information

Glad you're recovering HB. Sounds like it was an awful experience, especially having to be at the point of visiting the hospital. Hope your sister is OK too Rivergirl. Thanks snowfall. Still waiting for results, over 60 people have it from her ship now. Look after yourself Any news Robyn? Hope all ...

Re: Settled week then rain? 23-31 March

Took a while to get going but cracker of a storm in the end. Fast moving so didn’t last long but a peak rain rate of 100mm/hr and quite a few big rumbles and one flash-boom. Just shy of 8mm and still showery. Need about 1mm more to the March average so should get there now. Been a bit slow with post...

Re: Settled week then rain? 23-31 March

GFS andCMC looking ok for tomorrow. UK and EC not so keen. Still need about 5mm to get to our monthly average here, so may or may not get there. Shame after such a epic start. Looks like a weak showery/ thundery band timed to move through central around middle of the day. Showers and cooler Monday m...

Re: COVID-19 Discussion and Information

Wow, that sounds nasty HB :( . Disturbing they didn't test you?? Hope you're picking up now. I had some sniffles but figured with 3 CV cases in the Ballarat area (pop of about 120,000), the odds were in my favour. Yep, lack of testing worries me. I hope there aren't too many people like me out ther...

Re: COVID-19 Discussion and Information

Morning Robyn. Hope people are good, or at least not too bad :? I’m into day 14 of social isolation. Came down with a nasty respiratory virus which has been with me for three weeks (fever, dry cough, fatigue). First week I behaved as normal, assuming zero chance it could be COVID - just an odd flu o...

Re: Settled week then rain? 23-31 March

Progs pretty jumpy for the weekend and not agreeing. Looks like mostly a southwest coast, east central and northeast event. Thundery late on Sunday and showery into Monday. Still need another event in most southern areas to reach the monthly average (except around Melbourne which is doing well). Nor...

Re: Settled week then rain? 23-31 March

Progs showing ok falls for the weekend, particularly east central through the northeast. Typically 5-20mm. Should be thundery, from late arvo into the evening on Sunday, followed by showers in a southerly stream. Quite warm now for the next few days. Something big brewing for late next week. Too far...

Re: Settled week then rain? 23-31 March

EC and GFS have been trying to produce something. I’m not sure whether this nice weather atm is a good thing or bad. Tis probably better that people aren’t distracted from the epidemic. That said, maybe 14 days of non-stop awful rainy weather would keep everyone home :?

Re: Warm to hot with a change: March 17-20

Back in Ferny Creek under quarantine thanks to a virus. 4mm in the gauge for the last 24 hours. Down at Walkerville we got a stream of heavy showers. Just shy of 20mm in the gauge. That spot down there has a pretty odd microclimate at times. Driving around, has got noticeably drier in the past few w...

Re: Warm to hot with a change: March 17-20

Down at Walkerville for a day, getting ready for a lock down. Woke to heavy drizzle. Forgot to empty the gauge but looks like about 4mm so far. Should push up to Melbourne in the coming hours. Btw what networks are people using for support? I’m finding many of my friends are getting snappy and weird...

3.4mm in the gauge this morning and another 0.8mm in the gauge this evening. Quite cold out there now with some fog.

How are people coping? Gone awfully quiet :(

Re: Warm to hot with a change: March 17-20

Almost hit here today with a max of 27C. Would have been a nice day we’re it not for the wind and wall to wall COVID gloom :(

Had 0.4mm here so far. Storms look ok out towards the Otways so might sneak a bit. Is starting to dry out a bit atm.

Warm to hot with a change: March 17-20

Thread to fill in the gaps in a bit of a weather lull. Going to be warm to hot, and become quite windy as a front approaches around Thursday. Some showers, but looks quite sparse. Perhaps something more significant next week. Guess this warm weather is good for social distancing :( (this COVID-19 is...

Picked up 0.4mm of muzzle last two days. Looking to the next system which looks a week away, with perhaps a bit later this week.

Re: Strong front preceding possible ECL 13-15 March

3.2mm here. Fail :(

Cold this morning. Currently 7C with spotty showers. Could be the odd flurry in the alps with 850Ts pretty close to 0C. Nothing showing on the mainland snow cams, but a dusting down on Mt Wellington.

Now looking for the next system.
