Re: Vic: Dec 11 to 20 - Mainly dry and becoming hot

Agree, not overly convinced with the prospects for storms today, particularly in the metro area on a sea breeze pushing in, but Sunday is looking good so far.

Re: Vic: Rain/storm event - 8 November onwards

Tipped 29.5mm out this morning and expect a lot more when I get home. Is the BOM Radar ot of whack though? When we had the broken, light rain over us it was belting down. Now we have the Moderate to Heavy indicated rain over us it has almost stopped. It is like the radar loop is an hour or 2 behind?...

Wow, that intensified as it hit South Dandy. Went from nothing to white-out to nothing again in about 3 minutes. Looks like the tale end of the second line might have a punch also!

Re: Storms and rain Feb 25th-March 2nd.

Funny enough, although today's maximums did not get near yesterday's, temps across the metro area are higher than at the same time yesterday. Not much happening now beyong the line from Meredith to Beaufort, but with Temps in the mid 20's, DP's around 20, little sea breeze and convection moving in f...

Just been watching a great silhouette of the updraft and cell over the bay. It's a bit like a Kardashian though, looks pretty but seems to be serving no real purpose...

Re: Storms and rain Feb 25th-March 2nd.

Been watching the up drafts either side of King Lake - now showing red on the radar. Will be interesting to see if they continue to track SSW. If they do they are heading straight for me :)

Hmmmm, I just tipped 3mm of dead spiders out of my rain gauge. Speaks volumes to the weather we have had.

Cells to the north of my current position in South Dandenong are looking very nice :) . Lots of rapid verticle development.

Re: Heat, rain, wind, thunder & lightning, etc. - Nov 24 to

Still sitting in a car park at Black Rock. Too much rain to set up and get any decent shots, so waiting for the rain mass to move to see if I can get any shots of the back of it. I have seen some if the brightest lightning that I have ever seen. Some so bright that the car park lights are switching ...

Lightning going off everywhere to my southwest from that black cored storm. Hoping to eat some humble pie soon after my sulking earlier - will be delicious! Haha, I'll happily share a slice of that with you Geoff if it all comes off :) So, are we seeing the uppers cool slightly quicker than surface...

Re: Heat, rain, wind, thunder & lightning, etc. - Nov 24 to

In hindsight you have to be a bit cautious with your expectations when you have 850, 700 and 500 temps so high. We really needed a colder upper pool of air, front, cloud clearing for thermal heating or decent trough to get things going I think. At this stage we really don't see any cooler upper temp...

Re: Increasing heat, humidity and storms - Nov 3 - 7

With only 38.5mm during October for me, which is about half my average over the last two years, I am hoping November delivers in spades again. 2 distinct events in November 2010 helped me to a total of 103.5mm for the month, with 4 distinct events helping to push me up to 153mm in November last year...
