Re: Becoming hot with a thunder change: Dec 16-19

Hello all, long time, no post. We've been smashed once again in Lysterfield though not as bad as on previous occasions. Two new cars pelted with 5cm hail (edit: just remeasured make that 4.5cm) which we've stored in the freezer for prosperity. Some of the hail was jagged, some almost perfectly round...

Re: Trough then cut-off low: Last week of January

ILS, just shy of 14mm here in Lysterfield which I thought couldn't be right, yet a nearby WS has recorded 9.9mm (under-reading?). A few sites closer to the foothills (Upwey, UFTG) doubled totals in these parts. We had a few brief-ish heavy downpours, but mostly on and off rain with a few extended pe...

Re: Stretch of troughs with showers: October 25 to November

Hello my lovelies :D Trying to vacuum and in puddles of sweat, so giving up and coming online to watch the fun instead. Just over 16mm here so far since last night, sun is currently out with a few patches of blue even showing from a high, unstable overhead cloud base. Looks much more interesting to ...

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 14

I did a double take when I read your 18mm stevco, had to double check what we have had. We've had just 5.3mm, I even checked other stations in the area in case there was something wrong, but they're all reporting approx 5mm locally.

Good news for the west though, bet they're happy :D

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

Hello, all :) Aaaargh, the last few days of frustration have brought me here as I can't work out what's going on. I've spent three days looking at the radar, watching the NW of Melb filling up nicely only to have it dissipate and eventuate to virtually nothing as it reaches my area. For the record, ...

Re: Victoria: Long summer like spell: late October

Top of the morning to you all :P and happy birthday Geoff. 21 today? Puppies are terrified here, we've got a storm directly overhead, very loud, moderate rain and gusty winds at present. I slept through everything during the night :x but was woken just before 6am by this latest round. Nice save on t...

Yes Mick :P

We live (approximately) just under the e in Scoresby on the 64km radar.

Going extraordinarily dark overhead again, distant rumbling. This is starting to feel a bit like Dec 2003 now, with the constant waves of storms :o

Re: Sequence of spring fronts: 7-15 September

Hello my lovelies, coming out of retirement to let you know we've just been smashed in Lysterfield by hail. Started off relatively small and mild but within minutes built to 1.5 - 2.5 cm hail Lying thick on the ground, roads are covered and peak hour traffic edging along the roads. All the neighbour...

Re: Storms and rain Feb 25th-March 2nd.

That's a tough one, Jake. You're just about smack in the middle of a radar (edit: not radar, AWS oops!) "hole" in a way, diagonally between Scoresby and Moorabbin Airport. Moorabbin might be closer? I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone with their own gauge online somewhere around there...

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

I reckon the roads will be nuts tomorrow with the public transport being mostly out. Wind's still pretty crazy here but earlier we had almost complete whiteout conditions, around 50m visibility, the balcony (which is enclosed with shutters) flooded and the rain was racing by sideways in sheets. I co...

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Ah it's not so bad for us here. We've had gusts in the vicinity of 80-90km/hr, up on the 14th floor it's pretty hairy! We can't get out of our building, police have it cordoned off as the Coolangatta Sands Hotel next to us has lost it's roof. SES is here trying to secure the roof sheets, poor backpa...

Oh lol no way! South Bris Storms have just said if we get some heating this afternoon the south east could get severe storms, according to GFS. Crazy stuff.
