Re: Hot then strong front: November 12 to 15

34.8mm was my combined event total... very happy about that! :) But more rain is needed in order to keep my area lush and green. Not liking the predictions for the summer ahead, I hope they go completely wrong and we end up with a repeat of 2009-2010 instead of last summer or 2008-2009! :( Bring on ...

Re: Victoria: Long summer like spell: late October

Hey guys! Yes it was an AWESOME night, even better than I anticipated - as usual my area was hit head-on with some intense storms with crazy lightning (mostly intracloud flashes and CCs but a few CGs tossed in as well) plus continuous thunder, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall between 2am and about 3:...

Re: Sep 22-25 Warmer, becoming unstable, storms and rain -

My bets are on the table... I'm pretty confident that I'll once again be able to get underneath at least one thunderstorm tomorrow, it need not be severe to be counted! But I'd rather it be strong enough to at least dump a good burst of heavy rainfall and spark out some great lightning, including a ...

Re: Sep 22-25 Warmer, becoming unstable, storms and rain -

Hey guys! :) Thought I'd join the discussion once again, yes looks promising! ACCESS and the synoptic charts have a cut-off low/tropical dip swinging down from the west/northwest, with a high pressure area spreading a northerly airflow across Victoria as it approaches. As mentioned, the increased wa...

Re: Sequence of spring fronts: 7-15 September

Definitely a potential for storm development here in Melbourne! I can sense it! I hope I'm right!! :) Crazy night with wind gusts to 48km/h, 1.1mm of rain, and a low of 14.2°C. It stayed around 18°C for most of the night. Currently 16°C. :) Hope the trough can work its magic in the next 6 hours or s...

Re: Sequence of spring fronts: 7-15 September

Hey guys!! :D Sorry for my prolonged absence, I haven't had much to post in recent months, but I do come here often to get more weather information but that chart that Jake put up REALLY grabbed my attention and I couldn't resist! I'm placing my bets on that chart for severe thunderstorms here in Me...

Re: Extended Heatwave Victoria Jan 13 2014 Onwards

It's a goid thibg I'm escaping the coming heatwave! I'm holidaying at Merimbula on the NSW South Coast ;) No heatwave conditions expected here, at best only a few 30°C days between now and the end of next week (maybe 32°C at the hottest), and a few days of showers (maybe a thunderstorm or two if we'...

Re: Vic: Dec 11 to 20 - Mainly dry and becoming hot

My wish came true... in a sense! For me, today is a 'storm day' yay!!! :D I got to watch and photograph that thunderstorm over Buxton at sunset as it was decaying, and that cell currently north of Maffra as it was building up near the Buxton cell! Both looked beautiful in the glow of the setting sun...

Re: Vic: Dec 11 to 20 - Mainly dry and becoming hot

Storms had better start coming soon... I'm getting desperate for thunder and lightning, really tired of how this season's going, and aside from the morning drizzle we've had of late I've had no measurable rain for at least a week, really not liking it! :( A pleasant night last night with a low of 16...

Re: Vic: Dec 11 to ?? - Mainly dry, warmer & potential heatw

7.4mm of rain from yesterday's showers, brings my monthly total to just over 50mm, not bad :) Had a high of 21.6C at around 5pm today, which felt very pleasant when the sun came out during the afternoon! :) Seriously not looking forward to the prospect of a hot spell or heatwave, whatever it may be ...

Re: Vic: Dec 11 to ?? - Mainly dry, warmer & potential heatw

I really cannot handle hot, dry weather anymore, I'd much rather steamy heat and humidity Sounds like a move to Fiji would do you good aussie! Pouring down here now, 12.6c. Yes thanks Geoff... steam-bath humidity sounds a good deal better than 40c+ heat, low humidity and dew points, and high winds,...

Re: Vic: Dec 11 to ?? - Mainly dry, warmer & potential heatw

Really not looking forward to the heatwave... hope it doesn't hang around for too long, and the thought of strong winds with the heat is not good news either!! At present things are lush and green but if the heat persists for too long and/or comes too frequently this summer then I'd be getting reall...

Re: VIC - Heat, Cold, Wind, Rain, Storms, Snow - Dec 1 - 10

Tbh I'm getting sick of this cooler weather, it's affecting my sinus (the rain is nice though); winter has overstayed its welcome! I desperately need hot, humid, tropical weather, not just for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain but also to relieve my sinus. Hot, dry weather... no thanks! :( Had 12....

Had only 1.1mm of rain so far...

Re: VIC - Heat, Cold, Wind, Rain, Storms, Snow - Dec 1 - 10

Today's certainly a lot better for me weatherwise, compared to how things have been going so far this storm season, so I'm very happy!! :D It was around 17C for much of the night, but now it's around 15C - not much cooler than it was at night but compared to a typical summer day it feels wintry! Goo...

Geoff: a simple mistake regarding the missing posts mate, not to worry, these things happen! ;) Regarding Christmas Day, would love it if we ended up with either a repeat of Christmas Day 2006 (a cold outbreak with chilly winds, showers and thunderstorms, hail, and snow down to low-levels) or better...

Re: VIC - Heat, Cold, Wind, Rain, Storms, Snow, - Dec 1-7 20

Yes it looks like large parts of Central and Eastern Victoria, including the Melbourne metropolitan area, are in for a big drenching from the coming storm, I'm expecting to collect anywhere between 50-100mm at least!! A perfect way to get summer up and rolling!! :D Hopefully the cold front can reall...

VIC - Heat, Cold, Wind, Rain, Storms, Snow, - Dec 1-7 2013

G'day everyone! :) After reading all the posts in the last topic, I decided to get a thread ready for the first weather event for Summer 2013/2014, due to arrive next week, and at this stage it looks promising, in fact it appears to be shaping up to be an 'epic battle of the air masses', so here we ...
