Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 16 Aug 2019

Great reading and analysis by all, sounds like I've missed a great cold event! Currently sitting by the pool in Khao Lak with a delicious cocktail and a steamy 33 degrees. Arriving back in Aus around the time of the next system (that'd be right :P )

Re: Vic: Fronts and troughs 9 - 16 July

5.6mm to 9am this morning and another 3mm since 9am. Still very showery at the moment, waiting for my car to be serviced. Sitting at 11 degrees.

I think the Otways might get a bit of a flurry, HB. I hope that you can score something where you are though, I know you've been waiting a while! :P

Re: Vic: Fronts and troughs 9 - 16 July

Welcome Chaser! Locally here saw 6.4mm of rain to 9am today and 3.2mm since 9am. That rain last night was absolutely belting down, accompanied by hail and thunder and of course wind! Crazy for a short moment there. Highest wind gust was 87 km/h around 8:30pm. Glad things have mostly settled today, t...

Absolutely pouring, there's even hail mixed in this. Flash and bang and wind blowing a gale! Bin night here, few have gone for a ride in the gusts!

Re: Vic: Fronts and troughs 9 - 16 July

Warning well and truly warranted! Winds began picking up here this morning, but beginning to see sustained speeds 40-50km/h and gusts above 65 km/h. Few tree branches down around the place and even at work a few that we thought could become problematic (thankfully not). Fairly blowy out at the airpo...

Re: Vic: Fronts and troughs 9 - 13 July

Thanks for starting this Jasmine! Definitely looking interesting, Crikey! I'll be travelling home to see family near the 12 apostles on either Friday night or early Saturday, so should be cold and wet and windy down there! I wonder how muddy the farm is? Looking a good event overall, especially for ...

Re: VIC - Unstable with showers and storms: July 7-8 2019

Agree, snowfall. Bit of a hard one to judge at the moment, but hopefully most of us can squeeze out a few mm's before next week. Melbourne should see some showers from the afternoon and north central parts or the ranges as HB says seems like doing the best according the latest modelling! :)

Re: Welcome to our Weatherzone friends

Hi all, just a quick update. We've had quite a bit of feedback re the structure of our main thread (Weather Events, Observations and Analysis) over the past few days. We've restructured this to reflect some of the user feedback and the poll that is ongoing above. Each "area" now has it's own thread ...

Agreed, Skywalker! Down to 1.3 degrees here this morning with a "feel-like" temp at -0.7. Getting out of bed was difficult, even the walk to the car! Can't imagine riding the old bike! :|

Re: Humid with showers and storms, followed by strong front: March 22-26

Pretty strong forcing and volatile atmosphere this evening, wouldn't be surprised to see some storms persist into the night, including over the Melbourne area. They'll pack a punch in-terms of wind too. Already development across several parts of the state. Might be an interesting night.

Re: Return of heat: Feb 24 to March 5

Blimey it's warm out there! Bit of convection bubbling away, some thundery showers to the west of Melbourne and over the eastern ranges. Will have to check how high we got to today a bit later. Maybe a thundery shower to come.
