Currently in Warrnambool.
Warrnambool ?? :o

I'm afraid that,- if Planet Earth was constipated,- Warrnambool is where they would insert the enema. :(

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Looks like a little something brewing "out there" Tropical Disturbance Summary For area Equator to 25S, 160E to 120W ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI Jan 122300 UTC. Is 160°E to 120°W all Fiji's watch area ?? That's about 8500 km's. In fact, 120°W is about the same longitude, (but not latitude) as San Francis...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

It's just so good listening to rain on the roof again. Soaking rain too, so that's even better. Suns out now, but maybe more in the coming days. 48.2mm since 09:00 yesterday. Totals around the alerts were quite varied too. I'd like to see the poor buggers in the south get some rain,- and a few coole...

Re: Welcome to our Weatherzone friends

And now with the smoke & dust settling on the snow in New Zealand, it becomes international. Aside from discolouration, it is apparently leading to a faster melting rate. I don't think anyone will be too upset,- seeing as it's the middle of summer, and no ski lifts turning. I do remember, about 30 ...

Lovely thunderstorm on Cairns northern beaches just now with good rain and window rattling thunder.
Yep, was a good drop. Here at Holloways, I've recorded 39.8mm since 09:00, and 9.8mm up to 09:00h.
I'd be happy to get that every couple of days.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Storm started around 3.30pm, with big balls of dust blowing down every street, and through my house while I was too busy watching it. Great storm, good rain, lightning & thunder, on & off for several hours. That Flatrock alert to your east ended up getting 147mm to 09:00h. The cells went straight o...

Fairly decent tropical depression north of Fiji. https://www.vmgd.gov.vu/vmgd/index.php/forecast-division/maps-and-charts/latest-vanuatu-group-chart You should have gotten a few mm's out of that lot, c@28. I watched another good one go just east of you about 03:45h this morn. Didn't miss you by muc...

BoM weekly outlook still going for a further weakening of the IOD. Let's see how their prediction goes. Potential for widespread rain across parts of northern Australia The likelihood of average to above-average rain in early 2020 is expected to increase as the influence of the Indian Ocean Dipole (...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

The decent rains don't usually start until Jan. Decembers can be fickle. For me, the last 5 have been like a yo-yo. 2014:- 111.8 mm -- 2015:- 487.2 mm -- 2016:- 59.8 mm -- 2017:- 27.6 mm -- 2018:- 925.3 Whether we get an above average wet, or a below average wet,- we will get rain. Regions down sout...

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

BoM fudging the books by "Cooling The Past To Declare Record Heat" Oh Dear,- surely they couldn't be doing this,- on purpose,- to convince the gov't they are a 'very essential department' ?? Could this be their way of preventing any more 'culling / automating' of their 'essential' services ?? Oh cyn...

A whole 12.2mm at Holloways.
Enough to lay the dust, I suppose. Rain occurrences are becoming more frequent now,- but nothing out of the norm for this time of the year.

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

I've been watching Landline on the ABC for a while now, and can only say our problems are miniscule compared to the rest of the country.
We are mostly guaranteed of rain up here,- below normal or whatever,- we will get rain soon, - - down south may not. :(

Re: Tropics day to day weather talk

Horrendously dry at Bilyana, November average is 183mm and we've had 1mm. Give it another 4 weeks, or so, and I think we'll see some rain worth calling rain. Going on past years,- storms should build more frequently on the western tablelands. Just how many make it over the escarpment and down to th...

I've been told they had another 'event' back in 2004 but I know nothing. English girl , Lucy Keen was left with brain damage after falling off because the person responsible for hooking her up didn't do his job. I think the rules governing tourist attractions & the like are a lot stricter than back...

Another 14.2 mm last night.
Even back into a flanny shirt & tracky dax. The wind felt chilly, even though it didn't get below 21°.
