Re: Cold week with occasional showers: June 18-22

Just 2.1mm here. I haven’t looked yet but I suspect the better falls slid to our south today. It’s quite cold though - currently 5.5c.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Picked up 1.4mm in a slow-moving shower this afternoon. Agree that it felt much more of spring or even summer-like showers today.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Great to see solid falls in northern areas. Despite starting the day in that rain shadow, conditions improved for us to do quite well in the end here. Managed to get 18mm, and maybe just a little more to come with the band of showers moving in soon. That makes it about 80mm for the month so far, whi...

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Great to see it’s still fairly widespread, especially in the north where rain is really needed. I don’t think we’ll fare too well here with the strong north westerly, which tends to produce a sharp rain shadow this side of the ranges. It’s already very windy, with gusts above 40km/h.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Just under 2mm here. A bit less than elsewhere, due to some rain shadowing. Strong NW winds don't favour us too well, so not quite sure what to expect on Wednesday. Interesting system coming up though, and good to see it's likely to have some decent moisture. Very mild here - the minimum temp overni...

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

More rain overnight, taking us up to 55mm for the event. Good start to June, with only about 20mm more needed to reach the monthly average. Currently windy with the odd bit of drizzle and 7c.

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

Finished up with 48mm here. Rain and fog all day, alternating between heavy and moderate falls. It looks to have cleared now, though still foggy. Currently 6c with a max today of 7c. I see some big falls were achieved a little further south where the heaviest rain trained for hours, including 100mm ...

18mm here so far, and showery this morning. Currently 7c. Nice band of rain just to our west, very slow moving.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

An improvement here too, but still way down on the YTD average. We’re sitting on just over 170mm, which is about 90mm below the YTD average. Definitely hoping for a good June!

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Well what a month! Our coldest May max. since 2000, our best May snowfall since 2000, and with another 5.5mm to 9am, our wettest month (any month) in 22 years here: 201 mm! A barely believable turnaround from our driest Jan-April, when just 62mm fell. Still puts us a bit behind (263mm ytd) our end ...

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Periods of drizzle and light showers overnight put us just over the 100 mark for May, with 102mm. Wintry day again today, with drizzle and fog for much of the day, and 3mm so far. Still drizzling and 8.8c. Looks like it will continue for a while longer - love this kind of damp weather.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Yes, the projected probabilities from Access-S were quite a long way off. Though the problem with representing the forecast as probabilities is that the BOM is technically not wrong, as they’ve still indicated ‘some’ chance of at least 50mm. The big issue is, as you’ve pointed out JS, that it would ...

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

1.6mm in that last lot. Currently 3.8c, with a windchill of -0.6c. Feeling wintry! Great hearing the reports of snow. I imagine quite a few locations across the central highlands will be getting snow showers, with more to come tonight.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Still only 6c here and a strong, gusty wind. Had a gust of 53km/h a short while ago. A few light showers have passed through over the last couple of hours. Will be interesting to see how low the temp dips if we get some heavier stuff, so maybe the possibility of graupel or sleet later on today or to...

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

2.7mm overnight here, which mostly fell with a heavy shower close to midnight. Sun is shining at the moment, but sure is feeling cold out there - 5c and a windchill of 2c. A few showers moving up from the SW, although might weaken before reaching here.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Temp range of 4.4c to 9.9c here today and 1.9mm with the odd shower. Felt even colder with the gusty winds, but I’m certainly enjoying this burst of winter. MTD now sitting at just over 90mm, so a nice turnaround from the past four months.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Great pictures Gordon! 10mm here last night and a few showers this morning to give another 1.7mm. Not cold enough for anything other than rain, but very nippy out there with 6c and a wind chill of 2c. Looking forward to seeing what Wednesday delivers.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Nice burst of rain yesterday evening, with some heavy falls. Managed to pick up 11.3mm, making it 12.3mm for the event and 78mm for the month. Sunny right now, but hopefully we’ll have a few more millimetres tonight. Not sure if we’ll make it to 100mm for the month. That might be a stretch, but it’s...
