Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?

Quite a strong wind here this morning. The sun has come out to send the temp up to 8.5c, but it’s mostly been sitting around 6c this morning. 1mm overnight with a few showers and drizzle.

Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?

25mm all up here. Not a bad result. It’s pretty much in line with EC for here and above what GFS was forecasting yesterday. This takes us to 76mm MTD, which is above average and 810mm YTD, also above average. Rain has stopped here and it’s currently 8c.

Glad to see most have got a good soaking!

Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?it will trail to the north and east of us here

Yeah the picture is a bit mixed despite the really close timeframe. More than ever, it looks like a case of just waiting to see what appears on radar later today. Could be a fair amount of hit and miss. I rather suspect the heaviest falls will be to the north and east of us here, but I guess it rema...

11mm for the event all up here and 51mm MTD. Quite a cold wind out there this morning - currently 8.5c with a 6.1c wind chill. Have to get the wood heater going.

Re: Another low tracking south over Vic/Tas 16-19 Oct

3mm here this afternoon and 9.6mm since yesterday. Might be a little bit more in it this evening (it's still raining very lightly), although the main rain band has slid well east now. I guess we'll see how it goes when the airflow shifts more southerly tomorrow. While the models probably overcooked ...

Re: Another low tracking south over Vic/Tas 16-19 Oct

Just started raining here. radar is not looking too bad, although it's currently showing the rain area shifting eastwards.

We had just over 6mm here last night, most of which came in the form of drizzle following the front.

Re: Another low tracking south over Vic/Tas 16-19 Oct

Fog and drizzle here this morning with 1mm. Still drizzling lightly but I expect it to clear soon. Back to cold though (for now) - currently 10c.

Models are looking good for the coming week, though still jumping around a fair bit.

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

Finished with 37mm here. Shame about the rain shadow yesterday, which was enhanced with the strong westerly wind. But all said, it’s still a good start to the month. Certainly looking forward to less wind. Dead calm here now!

Heavily rain shadowed here unfortunately. Still managed to pick up 0.4mm earlier this afternoon, but not sure if there will be much more than that!

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

We've had fog all day here with drizzle and the occasional heavier burst setting in for much of the afternoon. 2.8mm so far. Quite a cold, dark, wintry day, though not quite as cold as yesterday. We reached a maximum of 11.3c today but only 8.4c yesterday. Judging by the radar, it looks like the cur...

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

Thick fog here currently, which rolled in with the wind change. Had a few showers, but they’re brief so have only amounted to 0.6mm so far. Really hoping we get some luck later in the week - I was in the garden today and was quite amazed how dry the soil is now.

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

Reached 27.2c here today. That’s our warmest day since 19th March, and far too warm for the start of October! The wind has died right down thankfully. Unfortunately a calm before the storm, as I expect it to crank back up again by morning. But nice to have some calmness for a bit. Might be a few mm ...

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

A very warm 23.9c here. The wind is just awful - it has been blowing a gale since Thursday night, with a brief respite of a few hours late yesterday afternoon. Today, its's generally gusting between 40 and 55 km/h. Looking forward to the front arriving, if only to get rid of this northerly wind!

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

Even more divergence today in the models. 10 or 100mm next week, and everything in between... Yeah, I noticed GEM in particular has been very bullish on rainfall totals. EC and GFS are a little more consistent, both projecting around 40-60mm in your area by the end of the week and similar here. ACC...

Re: Deep low and cold outbreak: September 22-29

Another 9.4mm overnight here and 28.6mm for the dates. A good boost to what was looking like a dire month. That takes us up to a more respectable 41.8mm for the month, although still need another 25mm to reach average. But YTD is 730mm, which is now above average.

Re: Deep low and cold outbreak: September 22-29

Well that was a nice surprise! It snowed heavily here for about an hour in the mid-afternoon and settled on the ground. The temp dropped to exactly 0c.

Great to hear all the snow reports around the place. Wasn’t at all expecting this today!
