Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

The fog didn't lift until 11am here this morning and it's currently 10c.

Obviously a really strong inversion as temps are quite warm where the inversion is absent - ie. Already 17c in Melbourne, which is ridiculous.

But we'll struggle to get in to double figures after today, this week.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Colder in Sydney than in Melbourne today.

Still mid-30s near Wyndham in Northern Australia.

Weird setup ahead with an ECL and then a high centred over Tasmania all week.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Another 2mm overnight. Nice to see it still ticking over. Maybe another 5-10mm in the coming week as a few cold fronts whisk through.

We might struggle to get over 10c on a couple of days late next week.

25mm here for the event. MTD 45mm. Pea-souper fog this morning.

Looks cold later next week with frosty mornings in the mix.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

5mm since 7:30am. It seems to be setting in for the day.

Some impressive rainfall totals in South Australia. Over 50mm in the Adelaide Hills and almost as much in the wheat growing areas around Lameroo etc.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Storms more to our SW as usual. Interesting to see Mildura at 21c at 7:00am. This is one tropical airmass. Not surprising since it was 36c in Wyndham WA yesterday (where this air is coming from).

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Still on track for around 25mm tomorrow which will be brilliant for the winter crops. Then it looks like cool temps in a Westerly/Southwesterly regime typical of this time of year after tomorrow. Looks like it should be cool, but the uppers stay rather mild. Could change, but GFS/EC has these sitti...

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

This kind of weather isn't all that unusual for June. It happened in 1995 when we had a week of subtropical Northerlies and mild temps. 100mm in one week back then which I doubt we'll repeat this week. Perhaps 30-40mm instead.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

EC, Access G and CMC now projecting 80 to 100mm in the latest 10 day outlook for here :) Locally, this year is starting to look like 1908 which was a swinging positive IOD and neutral El Nino. Only 51mm fell in the first 4 months in 1908 and then nearly 500mm fell in the next 6 months with the trad...

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

A cold and blustery 11c for a max today. That Southerly cuts right through you.

Back to subtropical weather on the weekend, with early indications of 25mm+ of rain. Sweet.

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

It certainly was a wet day, some pws locally recording 90-100mm... my wheelbarrow is almost full with water, just incredible for June. The long term June average (1880-1962, station closed in 1962) is 38.2mm and the highest daily total in that time is 48.3mm, so quite unusual. One possible similar ...

We managed to get under a convergence line last night and got 14mm. Just a few km away only 5mm.

Looks like a bit more coming.

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Frost here this morning with a minimum of 0c.

Next week looks more like a Southern Vic system. Great to see so much snow on the Alps though.
