Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy: September 17-2?

Cracker of a front today, but sadly just misses most of Vic. Solid snowfalls in Tasmania to sea level in the south. EC has snow in Hobart, which might settle lightly. We get the change through here about 1pm, then cold air overnight though not like that to the south. Snowfalls dropping to 500-700m....

Re: Earthquake - Gippsland 22/11/21

It woke me up from my lockdown sleep in here in East Warburton and felt pretty strong here, no damage done, but wow this steel frame house really shook. Further up the road. All miners in the gold mine at Woods Point have been reported to be safe and are now back on the surface as a precaution. Also...

Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy: September 17-2?

Chilly max of 7.8C here. Warm air advection kicking in now so expecting a drizzly night. Looked like about an inch on the ground in Marysville. They have a fascinating micro climate with low level snow quite common as cold air gets trapped in the deep valley. They had a cm or two back in the April ...

Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy: September 17-2?

Here you go folks. This is in the mountains behind home, this must be around 600m asl I am guesing, and there was still tiny specks and remnants of snow a little lower from this morning between 400-500m near Warby, I think we did pretty well for this event. https://i.ibb.co/z2C2SxY/IMG20210921150816...

Re: Becoming cold, wet and windy: September 17-2?

Chilly 8C here today with lots of showers, graupel, couple of rumbles and a few wet flurries :D Those are the first for the year. Think that makes 2021 equal with 2009 as our least snowy winter. The coldest air has moved into north central and headed for central NSW so expect some low level snow up...

Re: Low and Intense Cold Front - July 23 - July 26

Also snow on the mountains a bit further up the ranges, hard to see on this one even if you zoom in, as the sun was north above the phone. To give an idea though that mountain is actually 1083m asl, if you zoom in enough, you will see a streak of snow near the center it's not clear though. https://i...

Hard to see, but a little patch of a dusting on the mountains to the right.

And a little bit on the mountain to the left (East side of Mount Victoria)

Snow on surrounding mountains of East Warburton. Does not look that low, but it's something. This mountain is 1221m asl

Re: Becoming warm and windy ahead of a late cool change: August 29-31

Snow is holding up well, still a little bit of snow about 1100m asl or a little lower on the ranges. Not enough to take a picture of, since I don't have enough zoom, but pretty amazing it's held up for a week+ with the warm weather. And still a little bit of snow at that kind of elevation today, it...

Re: Becoming warm and windy ahead of a late cool change: August 29-31

Doesn't sound like there's that many people excited about the warm weather @hillybilly. :P Sounds windy outside, they sound like winds at a higher elevation though from the mountains, usually I can hear winds in the Warburton ranges from here, it can be gusty in the mountains, and just a bit breezy ...

Hmm snowing lower tonight than I expected, it's snowing in Bombala, NSW, what a surprise after a day like today.

Sounds like the people of Woods Point are lucky to live there these winters.

Reports of snow at the Rainforest Galery earlier, that is just out of our 5km zone though, about 10k away.

This is the most snow I have seen dumped on the mountain range this year. It fell lower on the more north-eastern mountains of the range. In first picture.

HEAPs of snow on the mountains of the Upper Yarra today. The camera doesn't do it justice.

MASSIVE NEW RECORD: Coldest temp recorded in Tasmania!! Minus 14.2 degrees at Liawenee at 6.01 am That's impressive. As I was telling someone on this forum the other day, they should move to Liawanee or Miena, they won't be getting boring weather then. ;) I also heard it snowed on the Flinders Rang...

Re: Cold outbreak 3 August - ?

Saw snow quite low on Mount Victoria on my way to work, snow cover line looks like is at 600m this morning. Also saw reports of snow last night on the Reefton/McMahonans Creek fb community page, so we were pretty close to snow, I could imagine it may have gotten to the higher properties of Warburton...
