Models are slowly converging on this scenario for the Weekend. The low is currently forecast to cross Vic/Tas with some models suggesting an ECL might form afterwards.

Winter Solstice being marked with a BANG

As mentioned in a previous thread, the winter solstice looks like being marked with a bang weatherwise. Models are showing a deep cutoff low crossing the Bight and surging up through Vic. It's looking like widespread rain, gales, snow and a storm surge for SE Oz - starting from Wednesday 17th June.

Re: Deep low followed by troughs / fronts May 30 / 31

I went with my son up the Mt Buniniong fire tower this arvo. We were blown sideways by what would have had to have been close to 100klm / hr winds!

Deep low followed by troughs / fronts May 30 / 31

I will jump in with a new thread :D Access G, EC and GFS are indicating a possible deep low approaching the west coast of Tas then diving SE. Currently suggesting cold gales over the 2 days. Does not look like much rain atm. Still 4 days out but worth a thread.

Re: Strong front and cutoff low: May 20-25

One of the best storms in recent times! Continous thunder/lightning and max rain rate of 144mm/hr (for 20secs). 6mm total with the band that went through

Re: Strong front and cutoff low: May 20-25

It's looking like NSW is going to get slammed from an ECL Thursday to Sunday (some models have it extending northward in some form also). Our worst day windwise looks like being Wednesday at this stage.
Thoughts anyone?

Slightly disappointed with our 7mm to 9am from the main band, but more impressed with the punch of the apparently 'little' showers following. The radar is almost operating in reverse this morning!
A massive 1.8mm since my last post! Temp has dropped 3 degrees to be on 8C.

Re: Series of cold fronts 23-30 April

Anyone getting up for the Meteor shower and comet tomorrow morning? Maybe, though possibly an hour too early for me. Also, the starlink satellites pass over Vic tomorrow morning. I did not get up with apparent temp of -1.3 and 60klm/hr winds! This is up on "Pretty Sally" where the BoM have their Ki...
