Re: Front with rain and storms: June 30-July 2

Well you guys up north and west of Melb certainly needed it. The land was so parched and dessicated when I was in that area in early May. Thank goodness the rains came at last.

I flew up to Brisbane last night through some horrendous weather. Here’s our diversion track - we departed Mel at 19:00 - earlier flight was cancelled due to bad weather

Re: Warm and dry weather rolls on: April 17-30?

Drove right around the bay last weekend and got the ferry across from queenscliff to Portsea. Geelong down to the bellarine is totally bleached and parched. The Mornington Peninsula is a little better in part - well, new grass growth is at last evident due to showers a week or 2 ago. But it’s a case...

Re: Return of heat: Feb 24 to March 5

I’ve not lived in Australia for as long as many of you have, I only moved here 7 years ago so wasn’t here for the Millenium drought. However at the moment, this is the driest I’ve seen it in Melbourne since 2012 and the first time I’ve seen mature trees (mostly the European ones it seems) with such ...

Amazing to see Coldstream on 37c, and Melb Olympic Park Yes the divide between the Southern and Northern Suburbs of Melbourne this month has been very interesting temperature wise. Compare Viewbank daily weather observations with Olympic Park or Laverton for example. A big difference on many days i...

Re: VIC: How Hot? 6 Jan 2019 - 18 Jan 2019

I remember similarly strange weather in Christmas week 2016. Early extreme humidity and 23,24, even some drizzle, sun broke through in the afternoon and within an hour or two it was 38 degrees and baking dry! Got to love Melbourne’s summer. It all gets a bit over-wrought 😂

Drove back down from Byron Bay inland via Tamworth and Wagga Wagga through to Shepparton and back to Melbourne over the last couple of days. Searing heat - temp on car thermometer read 42+ most of the way once over the ranges inland and 45 degrees just outside Wagga last night. The heat is extraordi...
