Becoming hot again: February 26-

Overcast and below the forecast max so far today in Warragul. Showers moving in across Melbourne so don't expect temps to get any higher now thankfully.

Becoming hot ahead of a change with possible rain and storms: February 10-14

case in point, we are talking in an out of date thread... You only need to check the main page to see if a new thread has been started. Surprisingly none yet considering this one is now 4 days out of date. Regardless, I usually check in here whenever there's a severe event and usually there's much ...

Becoming hot ahead of a change with possible rain and storms: February 10-14

I rarely comment here these days but often come in to checkout comments and photos during severe events. Was expecting pages and pages for this one but totally surprised at the absence of photos and such. Are people still without power/phone coverage or did nobody here chase and capture images of th...

Re: Warm to hot with possible showers and storms later: January 19-2?

Storm popped up out of nowhere and has just passed over us here in Warragul. Torrential rain and two massive flangs which the lightning tracker shows hit the ground in multiple spots all around us. Sounded like a huge glass dome shattering. Haven't heard thunder like that for quite a long time!

Re: Troughs with showers/ storms 11 Jan - ?

Basically nothing in Sale while Mt Moornapa 40km N rec'd 32mm in about 40 minutes from a storm full of CG and noise as it headed S/E over a few hours. The trajectory of the next line/stormy front approaching from the W also has a good chance of another clean miss of Sale, see how it goes. :D Looks ...

Re: Troughs with showers/ storms 11 Jan - ?

Around 25mm here so far from the two storms, and part of that second one came under the roof tiles and through the exhaust fan into the kitchen! Luckily it's mainly over the sink. That hasn't happened since the storm in Feb last year that flooded parts of the town. Crazy heavy rain. Steamy hot and s...

Re: Troughs with showers/ storms 11 Jan - ?

Second lot coming through Warragul now. Plenty of lovely loud crashes and rumbles and some more soaking rain to top us up after the last heavy shower that came through earlier.

Amazing to see so many black cores still forming on the radar even at this time of day.

Re: Vic - potential rain in the east from an inland low 5-8/1/22

Yep. Looks like the worst of it is making it's way up and over the top end of the bay. I'd say some of the SE suburbs are going to get smashed shortly as it all pulls together again on the other side :o

One loud rumble that sounded like a boulder rolling across a tin roof, then nothing.
Storms were brewing up all around us but now they seem to be moving away.
Better luck later in the week maybe?

Re: Warm to hot with some showers and storms: November 29 to December 3

Can someone explain why these massive black hail cores are dissipating as the storms come in off the bay? And will they eventually keep coming and wreak havoc over the SE suburbs at some point or not? Fascinating to watch them build and disappear on the radar.

Looks to me like it's building up as it crosses the bay then easing right back as it comes onto land on the other side.

Yep, at Warragul too. Been watching it develop all day. Some unusual bird calls this morning, not even sure what bird it was but the Currawongs were replying. Hoping for a bit of storm action tomorrow.

Looks like it's lining us up for another battering. I probably should have left the driveway in the backyard for a couple more days. Ha! :?

[quote=hillybilly post_id=115078 time=1581678373 user_id=82] Few gauges showing falls in the 90s mm. Looks to have peaked just south of the Princess Highway. Just checked my numbers and our peak rainfall rate was 250mm/hr so ever minute at the peak was dropping 4mm. Adds up quick when it is that hea...

Band B looks like it is going to catch up with Band A :). Only 4mm here from Band A but spectacular shelf cloud incoming, so perhaps a bit more from Band B. Lightning tracker showing plenty of action in that second band too. https://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=sts;t=4;s=0;o=0;b=0.00;ts=0;y=-38...

Re: Vic - Humid & Potential for Rain: Feb 5-20, 2020

Plenty of flooding out on the roads around Warragul and we saw at least one business premises flooded out. Quite a few huge branches down around the place too. Half of my gravel driveway is now all over the pavers in the back yard. Looks like two rivers ran down there. Can't get to the gauge outside...

Re: Vic - Humid & Potential for Rain: Feb 5-20, 2020

Backyard is flooded and we're on the side of a hill!!! Rain is also coming inside through the exhaust fan in the kitchen. Holy cr@p! It sure looked epic on radar. Epic indeed! We've had some pretty wild storms in the 8 years I've been here but nothing like this before. Thunder is still rumbling and...
