When will it rain? 1 March -?

Really muggy 21C max here. Still had fog in the trees at noon. Cool change with a bit of rain inbound overnight. Unfortunately a dry front for vic, but then some showers for Wednesday and Thursday. Just enjoy this heat after cold Nov Dec Jan It’s been way warmer than average. OZ just had its third ...

When will it rain? 1 March -?

A very concerning few days ahead with regard to fire potential. Hope everyone stays safe. It's already pushing 30c here this morning. Not too windy at the moment, but will likely strengthen as the day goes on. What a summer. Over the past 6 weeks, we've had just 14mm. During the 6 weeks prior to th...

Becoming hot again: February 26-

For those of you who do work at BoM, can you please make the suggestion that Total Fire Bans are included in your warnings, like they used to be in years gone by?
I hear from so many people that they had no idea today was a TFB in Melbourne because it didn't say it on the BoM website.

Don't be fooled. It definitely was a miss by the BoM in terms of forecasting, but the hottest part of the day is yet to come and will be between 5 and 7pm.

Becoming hot again: February 26-

Typical Melbourne summer now, as predicted by long term weather forecasters.
5 to 6 days of cool weather, followed by 1 to 2 days of heat. Love it.

Warm to hot with mostly dry changes. February 20-28

Did not expect the smoke to make it in outer south east Melbourne that quick, by then again I've forgotten how dynamic big fires are.
Red sky now, alternating with cloud

Becoming hot ahead of a change with possible rain and storms: February 10-14

As expected and forecast by long range weather forecasters weeks ago (not BoM), February is proving to be warm to hot and dry, after a wet January.
March should see rapid deterioration and back to several months of above average rain.

Becoming hot ahead of a change with possible rain and storms: February 10-14

Nobody talking about how cold it was this morning for this time of year. 7.6 in Cranbourne, the coldest February morning in 12 years through my records. Coldstream down to 3.6, and 4.0 at Sheaoks. Most of the metro was down below 9. South west Victoria had several places in the 3s and 4s. Beautiful ...

Well that was it for summer then. Early autumn for sure. Trees going yellow, and tonight most of Victoria is heading for a minimum under 10 degrees.
Still warm days to come ofcourse but this summer is a write off

Any chance the 500 kV towers going down near Lara was due to a tornado? Quite extreme damage tbh. I was thinking the same thing, and trying to get observations but data is scarce thanks to our vast empty country. Could be a very strong microburst. Hopefully someone is in the area assessing the dama...

Edit: that was a microburst. We are stuck inside our kids' classroms. No one is leaving the school. Absolute mayhem

Storm sirens going off in the golf course across the road. Radar looks ominous for an isolated cell here. Very dark clouds- the type of weather we got in the 90s after a hot day 😁😁😁

Nothing beats a strong sea breeze to cool off the day, if you're lucky to be on the coast.
Funnily enough it's still 34 in Cranbourne, but 29 in Cranbourne east.

27 in the city now, after a max of 36

Re: A hot start to February with gusty winds.

Long range weather forecasters have been saying for months that February will be be dry and warm, followed by a VERY wet few months as La Nina ramps up again.
I'd say enjoy this weather while it lasts.

Re: Becoming warm to hot, followed by showers: January 22-27

Looks like a lot of lightening around Melbs to start the day. All high based and really fast moving. Not seeing much weather today for most of us from about 8am. Record or near record heat to our north with both day and highs being approached or broken, but we sit south of it all. Great :) Typical ...

Definitely no more sunny days than you, but my garden is in the open and the soil has great drainage which doesn't allow for rotten roots

Re: Developing low with more rain and storms: January 15-20

I've had the best tomatoes in years. Perfect weather. Just enough sun and plenty of watering. Poor soil with bad drainage is what makes them rot, and having them in a shady area. February to be a bit more warmer and drier than the last few months followed by a cool and wet March, which will mark the...

A surprising 9mm this morning between 3am and 8am. Seems we were caught in a train of showers as other areas only had 0-2mm
